Lumia Icon - Missing software features and behavior

I purchased a Lumia Icon to replace my Lumia 920.

The Icon Verizone code build is missing key software features present on the other device, as well as previous devices. Namely the Lock Screen Timeout is missing the NEVER setting.

This means the device goes dark and locks every 5 minutes. Besides being fundamentally most irritating, it leads to dangerous issues while driving and times when fiddling with a locked phone can be dangerous, like holding a baby.

This is a feature that AT&T's 920 patched, as well as T-Mobile's HT-8X, and the HT-7.

Fix asap.

I wouldn't expect a patch to fix the timeout issue. Playing with your phone AT ALL while driving - even glancing at it - is dangerous and distracting. At least that's what you will be told by Verizon and Nokia both. Personally, I find the bluetooth integration to be totally amazing and rely on this exclusively for getting/responding to messages while driving. This is one area where WP8 blows iOS7 and the iPhone completely out of the water. And the accuracy of voice recognition on WP8 is lightyears ahead of Siri. And I'm not even talking about Cortana! I'm talking about the stock vr on my Nokia Lumia Icon without Cortana.

Battery life was just shown to be the #1 reason folks choose a particular smartphone over another. More important than brand loyalty/recognition, apps, operating system, or anything else. Battery life has become the main priority for everyone so screen timeouts are here to say.

You are so incorrect about driving.

As you know, Microsoft now has Sync installed in Ford Motor vehicles where their design guidelines (See 2014 BUILD presentations) state that apps should require no more than 2 seconds of glance while driving to avoid dangerous situations. Since the Verizon product is black screen and locked, that will be a problem to implement.

Cortana is inoperative with a blank, locked phone. So your comments are incorrect on both counts.

Since this is ultimately Verizon's problem, I am simply displaying it for the public to judge their competence at producing user bugs that their competitors have long since banished years ago.

Of course the phone has to be on and operable to access Cortana. That's the same with Google Now and Apple's Siri.

My Lumia Icon is paired with an Infiniti QX56 (2010 model) and works flawlessly. The Icon initiates the alert that I have a new message as opposed to Siri that requires you to manually call it up and ask it to read the last message. The protocol used by the Nokia and WP8 is just way more elegant than Apple's iteration.

When my screen is off and the phone is locked I STILL get Cortana announcing my new messages. I'm running the Preview for Developers to get WP8.1.
