GS4 speaker quit working

I've only had my phone since December and am already having problems with it. I've had problems with it for several weeks now and when I took it to the local store all the lady did was turn off my gps and tell me my phone is working fine. Tonight my back speaker quit working so I can't use speaker phone. I tried everything I could and nothing worked so I finally restarted it. The phone turned off and wouldn't come back on. After about an hour of taking the battery out, replacing it, plugging it up to the charger, etc it finally came on. The speaker still isn't working though. I've tried everything I can and everything I have read online and nothing is working. Any suggestions? Do I qualify to get a different s4 one since it's still under the one year warranty?

The obvious answer is that your phone is broke. Call tech support.  They are great.  Your phone has a 1 year manufacturer warranty. They will overnight you a new one. 

(I ALWAYS suggest that you CALL technical support over going in to store with a very slightly trained rep with a sales quota. You go to the stores to play with the handsets, pick up SIM cards and buy accessories. Anything more is risky customer service) But they will take good care of you when you call in.

Having a speaker go bad it is such a physical issue that it is rarely software, but it can be.  Think about any new apps you may have downloaded on your phone. The way to test it, is to backup your data and do a factory reset and wipe it clean.  If the speaker phone works fine after the reset, then its a software problem. If its still doesnt work after reseting the phone, use the warranty.  If you dropped the phone, or it has water damage, your warranty will not cover this.  Use your phone insurance.  You will have a deductible to pay, and they will send you a replacement phone. 

Before calling tech support, Back up all your apps, app data, pics, music, calls, texts, etc. to your SD card or Cloud.    (Need help on efficient ways to do this, the tech will help you or reply back for more ideas) . Good luck
