Has anybody received the 4.4 kitkat update yet on their note 3 update? My friend who has a note 3 with tmobile has received it already.
Verizon Wireless hasn't issued it yet. Soon probably though.
VZW will be the last US carrier to release KK 4.4.2 to its customers as usual. VZW is maybe still adding bloat and stripping the useful features we are looking forward to maybe. Just hope it will be a good release not a failed update.
T Mobile isn't messing around...just read they released 4.4 for the LG G2 as well.
T-Mobile can't compete for coverage so the have to compete with the phones they offer and the price of the service.
I would be safe to assume Verizon will release KitKat for the Note III 1 month after all other carriers get it.
Good Luck :smileyhappy:
You assume correct from what I have seen with VZW release of updates to their customers phones.
Yes, is frustrating how slow Verizon is releasing the Note 3 Kitkat update. Waiting for my wife S4 Kitkat update too.
japetty, the best is always saved for last! Stay tuned for upcoming software release dates here: http://bit.ly/n5snpq
I don't need the answers from VZW that don't mean anything to me. I have been around and know where to find answers to the my questions. These links you leave don't mean much to me and do more for you to end up with an upset customer. You did not say enough to make me want to leave VZW at this time but I am always looking for something better as my needs change.
Thank you for the link. I appreciate it.
There are 2 works for statements as you made the first word is BULL. VZW are not the best even thought they are just about ALWAYS LAST. Features removed, bloatware added and some like the update a few months back very much failed to many S3 owners, which turned their phone into a paper weight for over 2 weeks until you released an update which worked OK. VZW only offered an exchange for one of your refurbished phone which most customers don't like as they are many times with other peoples problems when they get them. Everyone wanted to roll back to the previous version of android which was letting everyone use their phone as a phone. I really don't see how what you say it a true statement.
Nailed it...couldn't agree more! That OTA killed my S3 and was left with the option of other people's returns as a replacement...after buying the S3 full price just a few short months prior. Still feel ripped off to this day because my only option was to get yet another device at full price since the S3 took a huge step back in overall performance, even after the "fix".
Maybe they are waiting for Lollipop, or Licorice, or whatever the next is called to be developed, lol. Seems they take pride in being the last per the statement from Verizon rep earlier in this thread, so they are probably just thinking ahead by stalling this release so 4.5 or 5.0 can be stalled as well :smileyhappy: Note 3 though is good as is, so take your time Verizon...especially with your history of failed OTA updates.
I switched to Tmobile after having Verizon for 11 years.... WORST mistake ever... I lasted a month with Tmobile and now due to Verizons "bring back" program (they erased almost $400 on my account for me to come back with a clean slate) I am back with Verizon. So please think twice. Tmobile was horrible.. yes my NOTE 3 had 4.4 on Tmobile, but the service was horrible.
Verizon is well aware that we are all clamoring for the 4.4 update however what you have to come to terms with and realize is they DON'T CARE you signed the contract and are at their whims and decisions for a minimum of two years. After the contract expires they may show you some love but I doubt it they could care less about their customer base on a whole and think that we won't leave
Spoke to a rep that says they aren't going to release the update until after the s5 is out in a Verizon make no sense effort to force people to buy the s5
Not giving up my screen for a few new internal parts. I'm shopping other carriers now, but have not found anything to get me gone just yet. Not that this lack of respect doesn't make me want to go.
It seems to me that there is no hurry to get updates out when there are new phones to be bought with the updates already on them.
It is pretty sad that Verizon is ALWAYS last when it comes to customer service. I fully expect their next commercial to be offering us a premium customer service plan which includes, receiving updates first. I absolutely love my Note 3, and I wish I didn't even know about the Kitkat update.
It also always surprises me that companies just don't get how to gain trust. If Verizon would stop spending millions upon millions on commercials about their coverage area and focus on customer service, they'd have less complaints on this community site. Instead of trying to get only new customers into their store, to which they will give better pricing to, maybe focus on existing customers a little too. They love to sell us the next best thing, the S5, but if they'd just get better at taking care of their existing customers, we'd be in the stores and also recommending them to our friends. Just give us the updates when they're available, not when they can be bloated with junk first.
CRSJ we aim to be the best at delivering our customers outstanding service! What's causing you to feel otherwise? I certainly understand wanting the update as soon as possible! There hasn't been a release date as of yet, but you can stay on top of the latest info by visiting http://bit.ly/dDumph AshleyS_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
It always seems that you, the poor customer service representative, get the grief. I know you only have access to what corporate wants you to know. I just think that a company the size of Verizon should be releasing any updates first. They keep our devices running to the potential that was told to me when I paid a hefty price to buy. Supporting your existing customers should be a high priority. With all the access to media via reviews and support sites, it will be a deciding factor on whether or not you get a new customer. I am going to be very diligent when renewing my next contract, and if these delays and excuses along with feedback from your site had to help me decide, I'd go somewhere else. I'd be a fool not to. I'm not saying that any provider is perfect, but all these price increases are making me want to make sure that I'm getting my monies worth. I'm also hearing rumors of "discounted" phone upgrade prices might be going up. Not helping me feel like tolerating Verizons customer support.
I got my update the other day when I sold my note 3 and upgraded to the htc m8
or you could just get the m8 and be done with it.
VZW has finally released their official Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Thanks Verizon! You are the first US carrier to roll out this OS update.
APRIL FOOLS' JOKE
I just updated my Note 3 to Kitkat also. Thanks Verizon...
do you have verizon?
Yes I have T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T services.
My desk drawer at home. I have more at the office. These are the currently most used devices at my work place. The brown boxes are what used the most. The office uses Verizon, and AT&T services(company pays), and at home I use T-Mobile(I pay). Verizon is hands down the best when I go out in the field, and use it always in work related situation. T-Mobile is cheap and since I rarely travel to 40% of the island let alone inter island when I am not at work it is more than enough for personal use.
Hi Crsj,Oh my! I can certainly understand your excitement for this update. Are you having issues with your current device software? Thanks,PamelaF_vzwTweet us @vzwsupport
Verizon sucks with there updates note 3 should have been updated months ago I will pay my Bill when you update your phone's even a creepy company T-Mobile updated already your customer support sucks I'll gladly go with AT&T or even Sprint metro I'm just sick of Verizon and there lack of updates just to sell the piece of crap s5 you guys just don't get it I hate you Verizon and all your clone workers and I will make every effort to tell everyone I know to dump Verizon YOU SUCK !
Is1150, good afternoon. This is not what I like to read. We want to make sure you that you are loving your services with Verizon Wireless. I'm eager for this update as well. I did just check and there is no updates as of yet. You can always stay up to date with the latest news by following this link: http://bit.ly/n5snpq Once the update is ready it will be pushed out to the devices. Are you having any kind of issues with your device right now? Please keep me posted. KevinR_VZWPlease follow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
Verizon wireless has the most rude customer service and sales reps of any company I've dealt with and their lack of punctuality is a bit more than frustrating. But how can you expect such a large company to care about their customers, all we are is a number. I cannot wait to switch carriers!!!
Verizon wireless has the most rude customer service and sales reps of any company I've dealt with and their lack of punctuality is a bit more than frustrating. How can you expect a large company like Verizon to actually care about their customers all we are is a freaking number to them. I cannot wait to switch carriers!!!
The Note 3 will be my last phone that I buy with Verizon I'm tired of watching everybody get updates while we're left in the dark they haven't even mentioned the update what kind of company are you guys running like seriously Verizon want the most money out of their customers but is always the last in line to update on top of that we can't even use Google wallet they block us from using apps I'm just tired I'm about to terminate my contract it's just not worth it...
That link is irritating. Useless. And a waste of my time. Stop trying to defend the poor decisions of the higher ups with the kitkat updates. Everyone knows its about money, irregardless of what the customers ask for. And THATS why there is so much vitriol here. Stop bullshitting us and give us the damn Kitkat update already.
Why do you hate your customers? You suck
Here is the deal people. You haven't received your Kit Kat update for two reasons.
Reason #1- Verizon is running a business and if they released the update right before the release of the Samsung Galaxy S5 it would hurt their initial sales so why would they want to do that? Bottom line is that so many techies are very impatient and because they have not received Kit Kat yet they will upgrade to the and new S5 and renew their 2 year contract or buy the phone at retail price just because it has Kit Kat which is a win win for Verizon any way you slice it!
Reason #2- Verizon is pretty good about getting big updates right the first time. So they let all the other providers push out the update and they sit back and look to see what the issues are and address them on the first release instead of pushing 2 or 3 fixes within the first month.
So all of you impatient people that like to threaten to leave Verizon because you haven't already received an update that really brings nothing that exciting to the Android platform anyway go ahead! I promise you the other providers customer service is equally as bad along with cellular coverage and service that doesn't even compare. You might get updates first but what good is that if you can't get a good signal and when you do it's extremely slow. Pick your battles folks. For the record I do understand your frustrations but I also like being able to use my phone all over this great nation where others can't so I deal with it!
1. I like many people got the Note 3 for the large screen and won't be willing to down grade it for the S5, so unless the plan to wait until the Note 4 it won't work on every techie. I doubt this is the reason they do it.
2. I bought this phone out right because they screwed us and changed us to 20 months then when I was at 19 months they made it 24. I couldn't wait since the update to the phone I had (which I waited way to long for also) screwed up my phone to the point that I hated. I couldn't wait for a patch to come out it would have likely taken a year.
I only have one phone of the three in contract now, so I'm shopping around for another provider. 10 years ago Verizon had the best customer service. Actually 5 years ago it was still the best, but it has gone down hill so fast and is now at the bottom. On top of that I had to buy a network extender to get a signal at work, so I'm not sure the coverage is really all that. My boss has Metro PCS and makes calls in the middle of the building with zero issues, but I pay way more and had to buy an extender on top of that.
Verizon is so slow on rolling Android and software updates, makes me wonder if they're still using Windows XP and running 512 MB of RAM on their machines. Come on Verizon, the Note 3 still costs $300, yet it's running yesteryear's software.
I'm tired of the blanket statements. It is better not to respond then to use the same response over and over. It truly gets tiresome and irritating. The update link is worthless, it is a dead end, it is a place you tell people to go, where you give them a false sense of security that they will go there and be enlightened by some mention of news. You've been telling customers to go there since KitKat was first mention and so far you have yet to say anything there. Also, why are you going to ask me if there is some kind of issues with my device? Is this again another way for you to disengage the true topic here which is about the KitKat update and turn it towards something with my device, for your info I would bet that I know more about the Note 3 than you know about the Note 3, but you are just assuming that I simply do not know anything, because once again you are using a blanket statement, that has been repeated not once, or twice, but probably several thousands of times. In fact you probably keep a list copy and paste custom responses in word pad somewhere on your desktop and that is what you did here. Surprise!
You might want to remember the Note 3 is $300 on Contract and $700 off Contract.:smileysad:
Hi Madenew517,You deserve the most fantastic customer service ever! We would never want to see you go. What happened? Let's get this fixed asap.Thanks,PamelaF_VZWTweet us @vzwsupport
I remember I left VZW for a few months and used the service from walmart. The walmart cell service was pretty lousy. Foreign accents to thick to understand when I called for help with a bill. Crappy crappy phones. But you know what? At least I knew where I stood with them. With VZW I have people smiling at me offering to help when all the while are are not helpful Explain to me how twitter and that crappy link you guys keep dropping on us will do anything about the Kitkat update. Why cant you people understand we do not want our phones full of apps you install? I dont use the VZW apps. I dont want the VZW apps. Its my phone. You stuck it to me for 700 bucks, and now you want to dictate how I use it? Screw you. Its MY phone. I want the programming updates the manufacturer has released. I dont understand why that is too much to ask for. Dont song and dance me about "you can turn off the VZW apps" because you know thats bs, and so does everyone else who has a Note 3.
Give.

Got it today :smileyhappy:
I downloaded it today and installed it now my phone is running smoothly
Did u get a notification that it was ready ? I check everyday and it keeps saying it is up to date. And waiting is trying .
...
It doesn't even matter anymore Verizon has gotten entirely too big to care about its customers. We are dollar symbols. I am sick of going into Verizon retail stores and getting treated like creep, I'm sick of waiting on hold for a representative, I'm sick of waiting to have update software on my less than 6 month old device!!! Unless you can fix these problems then I guess Verizon will inevitably no longer be my carrier...
The OTA should be pushed out tomorrow some time. Build vrucnc2. Kernel built March 13th. Hopefully nothing changes and they push it tomorrow!
What did you get? Note 3 kitkat?? Whatever you added at the bottom of your post isn't showing up.
Anyone else getting it yet? Still nothing here. But not sure how the roll out process goes.
i just checked also and no update as of yet , at work so not able to check on wifi so not sure if that matters or not.
I wonder if it's worth switching carries for something like this? Is there really that much of a difference between ATT and Verizon, regarding coverage and 4G service?
I just call Verizon about our update and a Verizon rep told me that Samsung haven't released the update to him which that doesn't make sense for Samsung to hold the update from the Biggest phone company to date but this guy didn't sound like he knew what he was talking he used Google to see when we would get a update like we haven't already done that and then he told me not too many companies in the Usa have the update yet and I told him that was a lie and that every company have except us smh... I'm tired of Verizon!
HI,
I'd like to ask what appears to pretty much be the opposite question to everyone else: I do NOT want an upgrade to the next version of Android. Will this happen automatically, and if so, how do I make it stop?
Thanks.
Steve
Download one of the various App Ops permission managers and then disable your "software update" permissions to prevent your phone to get the update. The App Ops application enable you to open a hidden permission manager that is build on Android Jellybean.
This is the version I have.
Hi Cherylsigns99,Software updates can be exciting! We have no information on the KitKat software update for the Galaxy Note 3. Rest assured, Verizon Wireless and Samsung are working extremely hard to ensure that you have the best device experience. You can keep up with the latest software releases for this device here http://vz.to/1elEgJy .Thanks,PamelaF_VZWTweet us @vzwsupport
The fact that T-mobile, Sprint, & Att all have released the 4.2.2 update to the note 3 just makes me want to leave Verizon more and more. and Verizon stating that Samsung has not release it to them is BS when Verizon is the biggest of the carriers. what it is, just like all other big companies, their customers come last. I suggest everyone do what i am doing. Leave Verizon. The NOTE 3 is unlocked from factory. you can put any sim card in it and use any carrier. I will be going to T-mobile at the end of the month. They have good prices and they keep their phones up to date.
You phone is still a Verizon Note 3. Putting a T-Mobile SIM in it won't give you the kitkat update. Also you won't get 4G speeds either. Seriously this is all silly. I have kitkat on my G2. I've not notice much of anything different. My life hasn't changed one bit. Seriously you are not missing anything. What even more funny is that if Google never came out with kitkat you'd be perfectly fine with you phone. Seriously I'd like to know what you think you are missing out on.
Here is something crazy i just found out

Maybe this is why Verizon hasn't yet offered the 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Note 3. LG G2 users seem to have a problem with battery drain along with other issues: LG G2 kitkat SEVERE battery drain and performace issues ... If that is the case, then I would now rather wait until they have worked out the bugs to get rid of the issues and make KitKat more stable when it's released for the Note 3. Sure 4.3 JellyBean is old, but at least it is stable at the moment.
Also, I saw KitKat on my friend's Note 3 (he has Sprint) and I didn't see any real difference except all the icons in the status bar are white and maybe a slight difference in UI with the way the icons look on the home screen and camera icon on the lock screen.
I just read that Verizon is pushing out kitkat for S4 right now... Don't know how true this is http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/04/25/verizon-galaxy-s4-android-4-4-update-arrives-galaxy-note-3-mia/
It's true. My son's S4 is being updated as I type this. Still no word on the N3.
It is so insane why this wasn't done before. I sit here keep checking to see if maybe it pushed through. We prob won't get it till the end of May till they see how the s4 is doing. We have these great phones good service and a lack of updates.
Id say you are right about it being a businesss decision on making a profit. But you are wrong about them wanting to sell S5s instead of updating the note 3.
They waited to update the S4 until the S5 came out. Dont expect update to your note 3 until note 4 comes out.
When I was in the Verizon store at week the Samsung rep. Was there. He said the note 3 Wil be updated at the end of May. If they don't I will be getting the S5 this is insane
If we look at the first posting of this discussion, it was posted on March 2nd 2014. I am 99.9% sure that people were asking when the KitKat will be out prior to that date, which brings me to my concern. So, now they say May, and then June, then July, OOPS! I heard that I new firmware was to be out around June or July, so while we are getting the KitKat, our competitors who already have the KitKat will be getting the upgraded firmware. I just signed a petition that has been circulating to wake up Verizon and provide the quality customer care service that AT&T, T-Mobile, and others are currently providing. I am tired of all the smoke and mirrors.
I'm curious why you think the Note 3 won't be updated until the Note 4 is released, which is currently rumored to be released at the IFA in September. Verizon released their Q3 results last week, and while they posted stronger than expected earnings, wireless customer growth was slightly below the Street's estimates, causing concern that the company is losing market share. Verizon blamed it on iPhone 5S shortage. Whatever the case, it could be why the S4 update was suddenly released without warning...they need to retain as many subscribers as possible. Yeah, Customer Service isn't their stronger suit...but it's on par with other larger carriers. Go look at the latest Consumer Reports ratings for cell phones and carriers. If one was to change carriers, it makes a case to consider smaller carriers like US Cellular and Consumer Cellular, which have higher support ratings. But coverage with these carrier can't match the big 4. As most things in life, it's a trade-off. Yeah, I'm frustrated too, but learned that emotional decisions aren't always best and to do my homework. That said, I truly hope we see the KK uodate for the Note 3 this week. But that's my gut, not my brain...
I sure don't stay around VZW for its customer service. Customer service has left the scene since the days of old GTE. I don't / seldom go into a corporate store anymore as I don't like the way that crowd treats me and the wait is just outrageous in the stores I use to frequent. I was in one in Arkansas several month back which was OK. I did read what you mention with the financial report a day ago and came to a similar conclusion. Not hard to conclude either. I do hope VZ shareholder read it carefully so they can decide why the earnings passed out to them by VZ is lower than what they would like it to be. Maybe when the shareholder meets come up they may elect new board members and such to turn the the earning around and start with likable customer service. I am a shareholder of Vodaphone which is who used to own 45% of the VZW and I was always happy with the earning I received from them and expect that to continue. The buy out helped vodaphone give its shareholders good returns when that happened. I have owned many shares of stock from different USA phone companies and the earning have always been there but very minimal compared to Vodaphone. The buyout also ended me up with some VZ stock which I have yet to see how it pays but if it is not something very close to what Vodaphone was when they owned that 45% of VZW I will dump it and buy something else. I really have no patience with these USA phone companies anyway. Oh almost forgot I took my Kit Kat update April 25, 2014 and all went well and you are correct about its release as I did not really expect it for some time. It went well and so far no issues. I really don't see any big deal with Kit Kat but I guess that is just me. Just really glad VZW did not mess it up like I experience with one of the updates I had on the S3 and then it took these LAMO's 2 - 3 weeks to get out a fix so people could use their S3 as a phone again and the whole time VZW blames the issue on Samsung. VZW is just like someone else I know who never wants to take the blame for anything. What ever happen to the buck stops here OH you and I both mentioned the lack of VZW customer service not being what it should be didn't we.
I don't know each individual thing we are missing out on. The Samsung sidesync 3.0 is one feature I was really anticipating. Until this update is released I cannot use a feature my phone should have is very disappointing.
My main point is this. It should not be up to the carrier when we update our mobile device's OS. Plain and simple. I would love to see Verizon be the first to say, "no more restrictions, if you want us to manage your OS, no problem, if you want to run bleeding edge betas, go for it" Imagine a company going back to that mentality...
I am getting so disgusted with Verizon, between bloated software that I can't delete from my phone, to be constantly the last to get the latest firmware, but when you want your monthly payment, you wouldn't think twice about shutting off our phone until we pay.
Oh I agree they will shit u off in a heart beat
Say what say wha?!?! :-)
Complaints filed on these forums mean nothing to verizon. There are several examples of just how little anyone there cares in this very thread. How many times have vz reps replied with some silly "how can we make this better?" response here when it is obvious what everyone is asking for.
Has VZ really employed a support staff that cannot figure out what everyone here is saying? It seems unlikely they could find a group of people that dense even if they deliberately tried to.
Dear Verizon reps: you can resolve this issue by releasing the update. That is how you make your customers happy. Release the update. Do whatever all the other carriers do that lets them release updates more quickly than you do. Release the update. Spend some of the money you collect from us to hire the people you need to release the update. Work with your vendors to ensure you get whatever you need from them to release the update. Tell your superiors that they can make customers happy be releasing the update. Release the update.
I hope this gives you enough information to understand what is needed here. Release the update. There is no need to respond with some pathetic canned response asking how you can help. The answer to every question you have in your copy and paste list is release the update.
Release the update.
Deep down, we all know they do not care. It is just a nice place for us to express our irritation. If Verizon really cared about these forums, half, if not more, of the topics, would be deleted. The marketing department would have a heart attack.
i just talked to Samsung. Verizon does not support the update VIA Kies. I don't get this. If Kies is a part of Samsung why does Verizon Block this update?? I am so tired of waiting. I know they can't do it all at once but come on. The situation has made me so frustrated with this Phone. I have the gear and like to switch up my phone up, but come on this is bad. To have great customer service you should keep ur people updated.
The Note 3 is supposed to be one of the best phones out there. I just don't see any reason why it's the last phone to be updated. The Note 2 and S3 (on other carriers) will probably get the update before we do. The specs that the note 3 has, I would expect at least 3-4 more updates after KitKat. It is just too good of a phone to get ignored by having the latest software.
Yea Mike... The S3 is getting an update today. Go figure. Build vrucnc1. This is insane.
Hopefully the tech sites are right about a possible 4.4.2 KitKat roll out for the Verizon Note 3 on May 2nd. Every other Verizon phone seems to have KitKat now. Since we have waited so long and are still waiting, they should not only give us KitKat, but they should also include a roll out for the latest version of Samsung's Touchwiz IU (the same build that the Galaxy S5 has).
