Knock On NOT working!?!!

I've also calibrated the sensor, tried turning the Knocking feature off and resetting the phone, then turning the Knocking feature back on. Nothing has helped. I've read somewhere there was a touchscreen update for the LG? Yet I've run my LG updating software and shows no updates are available.

And my phone also won't go into safe mode.

That's never fun briemarie! I'm sorry to see you've been having problems with your phone. We want it back to running smoothly so you can love it again. I appreciate you taking those steps to resolve it. We have just one more to go; please test the touch screen using the Notebook application. Draw vertical lines from top to bottom of the screeen, if the lines are interrupted or the touch screen does not respond, please accept my follow request and follow me back. this was from the first draw--almost the whole rectangular section was unresponsive, except for one line.

I've had this phone since launch day without a problem...All of a sudden, my touchscreen has went haywire: Knock On doesn't work, the screen has a mind of it's own, the touch response is awful. This happened out of nowhere and is very frustrating. I have tried everything from a Reboot to a Factory Data Reset to no avail. I just want my phone to work as it did before. Would appreciate help here

No I could not send a message, as my request is pending. This is an issue that should probably be resolved by LG, not so much Verizon. LG insisted that this was not a known issue -- WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I've found too many people writing about these same exact problems. I've done factory resets, started in Safe mode, and even got a replacement phone -- but I don't want a replacement..I just want MY phone to WORK CORRECTLY! LG thinks that just because they're coming out with the G3 soon, that they can just write a minor update to destroy our current G2's so that we will just decide to upgrade to the G3. Has anyone else noticed their microphone for speech-to-text on the keyboard is now gone, too?!!?! RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!

Ask for a replacement under warranty.

Yes, it would not be ideal if you got a refurbished phone.

On another site, I found that people with this device on other carriers accessed something called the dialer service menu, and there was a code that allowed them to update their firmware and this fixed their problem.

Call LG and speak to their technical support team. Tell them you are on Verizon. That other people on other carriers accessed this debug feature of their device to upgrade their firmware, and see if it's possible on your phone.

Honestly, in an FDR doesn't fix it, and if LG can't help you upgrade your firmware, I don't know what you can do but go to a corporate VZW store and ask them for a replacement.

I did see that number to update the firmware as well, I tried dialing the numbers, but I just got Verizon's automated response that "this number could not be completed as dialed." I will try to call LG's technical service to see if I'm possibly misdialing the number. Thanks a lot for your help stef7

We really appreciate the Knock On feedback that you have provided. The software team asks that you perform a touch screen test by going to

Apps>Notebook>New Note>Draw vertical lines perfectly, touchscreen passes>Unable to draw vertical lines at some part, touchscreen fails. If it does fail, we can look into replacement options.

It is the horizontal lines that aren't working. The vertical lines did work according to the screenshots the OP posted.

I'm having the same issues as the one stated above (and stated by so many). I have tried all fixes but the knock on is not working. Dead area appears to exist along top of phone. Happened literally overnight. Phone is less than 6 months old. Super disappointment and Verizon's lack of forethought is even worse. Can we get a real fix please? Why no firmware update system? Others have it and find success. Seems like a severe lack of customer trust and support. We aren't dumb, we can see the lack of care. Please fix.

I have the same problem with my phone now about 10 months old. This is ridiculous seeing I have never had a problem with any other phone for 20 years. About an inch down from the top it is all blank

After two 4.4.2 updates since Sep 11 the LG G2 lost the Knock On feature, and received an inactive screen area 1in from top of screen. All was just fine prior the updates. The device will 'Knock Off' just fine, but will not 'Knock On', making it difficult to use, as the power button is on the reverse. The 'Dead' touch area of the touch-screen on top seems consistent with a lot of LG G2 users, and is no upgrade either. I don't want to Warantee a mint phone simply due to a software update to receive a Refurb, and it worked just fine days before! Any Suggestions? Anyone else with this problem/fix? Extended my contract to get this phone. Heard T-Mobile is buying out contracts, with no problems on the LG G2 there. What is going on?

I hard reset the phone. No help there.

A replacement phone is the only option. Received my replacement yesterday. VS98026A is working on my unit. No issues yet. OTA updates seem to corrupt the recovery. If that happens no matter how many times you reset it won't work.

Yeah my issue started when I updated my phone recently. I have the same dead spot as everyone else. Wish there was something I could do besides get a new phone. I want my phone to work. I might just switch to Samsung or back to an iPhone, seems like the LG is garbage.

That's gonna cost a lot of money unless you have some connection or are selling your G2 to pay either the ineligible upgrade cost or paying flat out retail.

I agree. And those who trusted in the LG G2 update, that messed up their phones had either extended their contract or paid for the phone already. '@asimone140' No reason anyone should have to pony up for a new phone due to a bad software update. 'Snn5' did you place a service call, or visit a store to have the replacement arranged? Was it new or re-furb?

I was 100% convinced it was the software update. Than after no improvement from the VS98026A update, I am not so sure its just software. Anyone think it may actually be a hardware issue on a batch of LG G2s?

For what it's worth, I applied the update today and now I'm having the exact same issues. Knock on no longer works and worse, that same section of the screen isn't functioning. Phone worked perfectly before the update. Seems like Verizon has a problem on their hands.

Precisely what happened to me. Now im receiving a like-new replacement for an otherwise prestene unit. Verizon tech support tried everything, replacement was the only option.

Just closely inspect your like new unit. The first one I received arrived with a non stock camera lens (it was green instead of sapphire coated) and its battery was junk. The second one I received would not wirelessly charge. The third unit I received has a down volume button that sometimes sticks and its battery is not great. I am sticking with it because it's not that bad, but just be careful, the like new units are very poorly refurbished.

Thanks. Gave it a once-over as it came in the mail today. Than again, and again to make sure. Identical. Like-new replacement. Knocks on and off, no dead screen area. Like new.

As for the update. Decided to run it as it prompted me 5x times during the restore. And unbelievably, all works fine. Knock-on, screen area, everything... So now my thought is that the update may have been a coincidence with a hardware failure in my original unit? What are the odds? Now running VS98026A updated OTA and all is well.

I'm sorry to learn of the issues you are experiencing with your LG G2 ErikRose1! I experienced a similar issues with my G2 and I was able to resolve by doing a hard reset. Please follow the steps at this link http://vz.to/1bEaoQu and make sure to uncheck at step number 3 ***very important***. Keep us posted.

Thanks but I already took it in to the Verizon store yesterday and received my replacement today. "New" one has a scratch on the back but otherwise seems to be working well.

Reviving an old thread, but I have the exact same problems as the other users since the September 2014 android update. It took me a while to figure it out. I can knock off,but not knock on, there is a dead touch screen zone about an inch from the top of the screen just like everyone else. I have done a factory reset and safemode, no changes. I am sure there are more out there like me. I see there are people that have rooted their phones and added the "hiddenmenu" to apply the firmware with successful results, but i prefer to see VZW fix the phone they ruined with a faulty sofware update. I have a distinct feeling that either (1) vzw will give me a refurb phone in worse condition than my own or (2) force me to buy a new phone out of contract. Sorry for the cynicism. I hope to be proven wrong. Thx in advance.

Unless LG releases some fix before Lollipop (which is only the OS and not the Optimus GUI) we'll have to hope the fix is in 5.0 as part of the overhaul. Until then, a refurbished phone is your best bet. Everyone so far has had success with (as far as I know) refurbs correcting the issue they were having.

My G2 suffered knock-on, dead zone, and battery life issues as a result of the OTA update. Way to render my perfectly functioning device useless after the warranty was up.

How is this any different than if I were to take my perfectly functioning device with me to a Verizon store, to perhaps buy a case, and one of the Verizon reps takes my phone, throws it on the floor, and says, "I'm sorry, we can't replace or fix it, your warranty has expired."?

Verizon and/or LG rendered my device useless with their "update". If I had known that "update" means "forced obsolescence and force one to buy a new phone", I would have refused the update. Of course, I would have had to continually defer the update every time the reminder came up which would be a perpetual annoyance.

I have tried contacting Verizon to no avail. I have received the standard, unhelpful "customer service".

Which OTA are you referring to? KitKat 4.4.2, the Sept 2014 Advanced calling update to 26A, or the update to Advanced calling (2nd update) 27A? Verizon will normally exchange phones under standard warranty first year and extended warranty thereafter. I have been told that they will exchange if a problem arises from an OTA they send out, but most issues caused by updates, for me, involve total system crash. I have had to replace my phone after every update EXCEPT this last one to VS98027A.

Knock On screen on function no longer works after update. Knock On screen off still works. It seems like the problem began after 27A update.
