how to stop wireless charging beeps and lighting up lock screen?

I just got the wireless charging back and it charges, but while charging it lights up the lock screen and beeps about once every minute or two ("wireless charging"). It does this on two different wireless charging pads. The only way I can stop the sound is by turning the ringer off. I cannot find a way to stop the screen from lighting. This makes wireless charging on the bed table impossible, as the phone wakes me up. I tried using blocking to stop all notifications, but it does not stop this behavior. How do I turn off the beep and the screen wakeup?

Is it the official Samsung cover? I have a 3rd party adapter that does the same thing and I was hoping that the real deal wouldn't do this.

I can kinda help you with the screen. It'll still come on when charging is complete but, f you activate the developer menu and uncheck "Stay awake", the screen will turn back off after about 10 seconds.

Copied from my post about preventing the screen from staying on when charging is complete:

...to enable the developer menu, go to Settings, About device, then tap "Build number" repeatedly. After a few taps, you'll see a message that says you're X steps away from being a developer. Tap Build number X more times. Once it's enabled, back up to settings and you'll see the "developer options" menu towards the bottom. Select this, then uncheck that pesky "stay awake" box.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it is an official Samsung cover. I tried the "stay awake uncheck trick before posting, sorry, should have mentioned that. Interestingly enough, it was unchecked by default on my phone. The phone does turn back off after 10 seconds, but that is no help, since the 10 seconds is long enough to disturb sleep. And, of course, there is still the beep.......

Hi dan77062 - We certainly don't want you to be disturbed throughout the night! I have done thorough research into these concerns and appear to be the current software design of the phone. There was mention of 3rd party battery applications that could affect the sound profile however I do not have the ability to recommend a certain one.

I understand that you cannot recommend a certain 3rd party app, but if you could provide links to the ones you know about, then I could pick from that list.

I see that a lot of people have this problem. Is there a way to have this entered as a bug that will be addressed in a future software release? It seems like a straightforward fix-- allow the user to disable the battery charging notifications.

I have the oem samsung case ahd using a generic charging pad. Mine will beep when I set the phone ontop, then when it is done charging will beep once. That's it.

That would be a big improvement, but would not solve the problem, since when it gets fully charged in the middle of the night, it would still beep (and I assume light up the screen, yes?), which would bother sleeping.

Do you know of a way to stop it from announcing when it is fully charged?

After reading psf57's reply and noticing that is what others report as well, I had an idea. I swapped the USB charger unit out for a beefier one (original unknown, perhaps 1A?, swapped for a 2A rated one) and now the multiple notifications have stopped, but the initial one and the one at full charge are still there.

Seems like the underpowered USB charger was getting current limited, making it undervolt, which caused the wireless charger to turn off, reducing the current load, allowing the USB charger to return to full voltage (5V), causing the wireless charger to turn back on, etc., etc.

So that's half the answer.

Still does not fix the actual problem, which is that the screen lights up and the phone beeps in the middle of the night when it reaches full charge.

When I was plugging mine in, I would use a soft mat and actually put the phone face down. After it was charged the screen would come on, but shut off in the time I have sat for display to shut off. I also have a 3rd party app installed, which took over the beep. it's the battery doctor app. Don't know If I can list it, but here it is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ijinshan.kbatterydoctor_en .

Turn off daydream. I believe it's on by default and set to while charging.
