all of a sudden my sound notifications are no longer working but if I plug in my earphones I can hear the notifications

That is truly odd, laamja. Sorry to hear about the volume/notification issues you are experiencing. Does your phone play audio via Speakerphone or music? Have you tried going to the notification sounds menu to see if they audio will play when you toggle through the different options? Please share this info.
