I stopped being able to connect to the Verizon Wireless network at 7:00 AM. My wife's phone works fine. I called her on a standard phone from my desk, and her phone seemed to work just fine.

It could be a network outage, but since your wife's phone is working ...
Try this: turn off the phone, remove the SIM card (be careful not to touch the gold contacts), wait a few minutes, then reinsert the SIM card, turn the phone back on, and wait a few minutes for a fresh network connection to be established. If that doesn't work, you may need a new SIM card ... they're free at your local Corporate Verizon store.
