Is there any way to schedule a text message on the S5?
Hello Bronze93,Thanks for reaching out to us today. I hope are you liking the Samsung Galaxy S5! I would love to answer any kind of questions that you might have about the device. Just to clarify when you say schedule a text message, are you speaking about setting up a time of when the phone would be allowed to send a text. Or do you mean, if you want a text to be sent out on May 1st at 11:00am it would automatically do that? We do have a program that is called Family Base. Family Base would allow you to set times restrictions when the phone can be used. Here is a link to get more info on Family Base: http://vz.to/1gIkllaKevinR_VZWPlease follow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
I would like to schedule a message to be sent at a specific date and time. Other versions of the S5 from other companies (i.e. international, sprint, at&t) have this feature. Is there a way to get it on the Verizon version?
Hello bronze93, Text messages is one of the most popular ways to communicate in the wireless world, especially while on the go. I want to make sure that you are able to get the most out of your Samsung Galaxy S 5. May I ask are you using the stock text app? Also, how many recipients are you wanting to schedule a text to? If it's a group text then please advise. As you share the details then we can explore options together. Thank you... ArnettH_VZW Follow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
I am using the stock text messaging app from Samsung. I also tried in Verizons app. I am trying to send to just one person at this time, maybe groups later. Like I stated before the stock app on other versions of the phone have this feature. What happened to it on the Verizon version?
That was my favorite feature on my Galaxy S4 from TMobile. I can't believe that Verizon disabled th Schedule Text feature on their phones. Hey Verizon, FIX THIS!
Yes! Please fix this! I spent an hour trying to schedule a message only to find the option I'd not available (only) to verizon users. This seems like a strange option for a carrier to disable. I cannot imagine a good reason.
It's hard to believe Verizon would delete this option, but apparently they have. I will be switching back to ATT just to have this option
I too am very disappointed that VERIZON has chosen to arbitrarily remove this functionality!
For some unknown reason, VERIZON removes functionality that the cell phone manufacturer designed into the base phone.
Being able to SCHEDULE a TEXT MESSAGE is a very useful tool.
VERIZON ,,, PLEASE restore this functionality to the Galaxy S4, and S5
In the ten years I have actually used the texting function on cell phones, I have yet had an occasion or situation that I would want to schedule a text message. Why would someone even want to schedule a message?
Different stokes my friend ,,,
Perhaps you live in a different time zone and you send a message very early in the morning ,,, If the recipients have notifications turned on, they will be notified that that moment ,,, If you could schedule the message, you'd be able to have it sent at a "normal" time for the recipient.
Think about this too ... Samsung created this feature on the phone ,,, why not let the owner of the phone decide whether or not it's useful for them. If they want to use it, they can ... if not, they won't.
Ann154. several people in my family are very forgetful. I send them txts to
remind them to take out the trash, take meds, call people, etc. I schedule
txts to remind them to do these things. I don't want to have to set an
alarm to remind me to txt people to remind them to do stuff. Schedule txts
allows me to omit one step, an alarm. I also send txts to volunteers
reminding them it's their turn to do something. I like to set these up
ahead of time/schedule them so I don't have to keep reminding myself to txt
them. I hope this makes sense
YES! I asked a couple of coworker, just a little while ago if they thought being about to scheduled text messages was beneficial.
They don't have VERIZON (Sprint and T-Mobile), they both said yes and gave situations that they would do so.
Since they don't have VERIZON as a carrier, they have the option to do so... VERIZON has determined that their customer shouldn't have this option, so they've taken it away! ... Even though SAMSUNG, the manufacturer of the phone, built in the functionality to do so.
That's what calendar reminders can be used for. Repeatable and you can set up a time when to remind those people.
well maybe the dynamics of your life is different from most people I have a son flying out 18 years old at 2 a.m. in the morning I'd love to send him a real time text message without waking up the rest of the family to do so
You have to wake the rest of the family for YOU to send a text at 2AM???? It sounds more like you don't want to be awake at 2AM to wish him off in real time. You would prefer to send it at 9PM and be asleep at 2AM. What happens when he responds at 2AM to you and then he doesn't hear back? Will he be worried enough you didn't have an accident and miss his plane to check in on you???
Why did Verizon remove scheduled text messaging, it makes no sense.
Samsung is the manufacturer of galaxy S5s. They have this feature from other carriers as stated by many users above. Manufacturers load stock apps unless otherwise directed by the carrier. Give the people what they want! [Not the runaround]
Here is the interesting part. My friend has the same phone I do and he can schedule and I can't. How can you explain that?
Are both phones subscribed to Integrated Messaging? This how-to indicates that the feature must be enabled for message scheduling to work:
