My Galaxy S5 is answering itself.

Does this happen with all calls, certain contacts, or just randomly?

Let's start with a few basic steps. Please power off your phone and remove your SIM card for about 30 seconds.

Are you using VoLTE for your calls or is just regular phone calls. Check by going to Settings>More Networks>Mobile Networks>Is VoLTE Call enabled?

Interestingly, it is not every call; but does effect multiple contacts that I have noticed. It was in Global I just switched it to LTE/CDMA. The problem seems most prominent if I am connected to WiFi.

I am having this issue as well but only when I am at work. The phone basically answers itself, without ringing, and no one is on the line. I've called my phone at work probably 100 times and maybe twice has it rang and I could actually answer the call. The phone looks like the call is in process but the caller just goes to voicemail. I've had the phone replaced twice and now have a refurbished phone with the same issue. The VoLTE call option was not there when I looked but added it online and will see if that helps. Not very happy now having a refurb and still having the same issue.

Are you connected to your WiFi at your work?

"VoLTE call" was not an option in "mobile networks" when I first looked? I did some searching and found that if you log onto your account online, go to add/change features, and add Advanced Calling 1.0 it will appear after a reboot. Turning on VoLTE call has now corrected my problem. I am now stuck with a refurbished phone because of this. Thanks Verizon for being incompetent. I should get sent a new phone.

Ok. So I tried the whole powering down process. I've tried switching to LTE/CDMA but it still happens. I am noticing that it is definitely happening while I am connected to WiFi. My texting works fine, my outgoing calls have no issue. it is only when I have an incoming call that I am having this issue?

THIS IS FRUSTRATING. Missing multiple calls for this issue is not acceptable. What can be done?

You need to turn on "VoLTE call" it worked for me. Go to verizonwireless.Com and find add/change features and add advanced calling 1.0 it's free. Restart your phone and go to settings, mobile networks and make sure "VoLTE call" is checked and your problem will be solved. This is not LTE/CDMA option that your talking about.

realdealxray we'll solve this mystery and get the device working properly. Have you noticed this happens with a specific Wi Fi network or multiple connections?

I have noticed it happens on my home WiFi. This is when it has been most evident to me.

Could my home WiFi be the issue? I just switched to VoLTE. But I will not be able to replicate the situation until this evening.

I am having same issue. If I am using the phone for anything when a call is received it looks like the call is active but cant answer and no one hears me and goes to voice mail. It is way annoying. I have not tried the Advanced Calling 1.0 yet since if I install that I lose the Ringback tone feature. This is stupid. We should not have to be the first to use this and be the guinea pigs for a feature that makes our phone not be a phone. After all receiving phone calls on a phone is important. What is the fix? Or do I really have to add that Advanced Calling feature? and does that really fix it?

Yet another person having the same issue. I even so far as to take it to a samsung representative that worked at best buy. He re-installed the android OS and it still is having the same issue.

Has verizon given up on this issue? Mine does the same thing and I am on my 3rd phone.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they have. I was talking to someone and we had a network ticket open but have not heard from him since. I have sent a number of messages and he has just ignored me. I think the best bet is to file a complaint with the better business Bureau.

Has anybody been able to find a fix to this? It drives me crazy. From what I've seen online, it appears it happens to a lot of people. It's pretty much the only fault I have with the phone but it's enough to make me want something else.

knock on wood so far havent noticed this problem, im on latest software, and almost always on wifi, dont have advanced calling feature added to this phone. i dont use phone calls much but when i do they seem to work fine. prolly from verizon making changes to the manufacturers OS/software and they cant find out what caused it. if people wanted the extra apps/bloatware they'd install it themselves. perhaps carriers shouldnt be allowed to change the manufacturers OS/software, all it does it create more bugs and slow down fixes. verizon makign changes has caused problems before, the visual voicemail no longer is able to be disabled.

Same issue. Call comes in. I go to pick up the phone, it looks like the call was answered, the call screen is on and says end call, but when you go to talk there is no one there and get sent to voice mail. I hang up and immediately call back and they answer and we can then talk. There is absolutely no way to get the call to answer properly once it has gone into this mode. Like others all was working perfect until the last update. Need to do a quick fix update to correct this issue ASAP. I have looked for various settings that may cause this and have found nothing that changes this issue.

Pablo720, I know the importance of ensuring your calls process successfully. Is this happening with one specific number or all incoming calls? I am on the SM-G900V and running Hardware version G900V.05 Software update is SM-G900V_NK2 and updated on the 23-dec-2014. It happens most from my brothers number, but he calls me most. it is intermittent and it does happen to other numbers. I go to pick it up and it intermittently goes to the screen that I get when I answer a call, but there is no one on the other end and they eventually go to voice mail. I am unable to answer it though and I get the screen for ending the call as if I answered the phone. I thought I was hitting a button, but have been very careful and this is not the case. I thought it may be a motion issue when I picked up the phone or placed my hand over the screen to pick it up. But after being very careful to rule that out I am at a loss. My guess is there is some bug in the sensor that activates when you place the phone to your head and it is answering the phone when it senses my hand there as I pick up the phone. But that is only a Wild Guess. Let me know if this information helps or if you have something on this build that is causing issues.
