s5 can't get 4G and 70 percent of my texts fail

Ok just got galaxy s5 four days ago. For first couple of hours I had 4G and good service. (Texts ect.) Ever since then has 3g and fails a lot of texts. So far from reading the mass of other posts with this same issue I've tried. Changing settings from global to lte/CDMA and restarting phone. Checking and removing/reinstalling sim. Removing from Otterbox case. Help! Also some message comes up saying some service has failed every time I restart

What apps have you installed in that time, and what services (if any) did you opt into during that time between the good service and the time you started having problems?

I think candy crush was it. And no services

Come to think I'm assuming I remember seeing 4G maybe I didn't ever have it since purchasing phone at walmart

What text app have you been using the system default, Verizon's Messages (aka Messages+), Google Hangouts, or something else? Verizon just patched their text program with bug fixes, so if you were using that you may want to try it again now. It looks like their patch may have fixed an issue with images not sending in some cases (ex: to e-mail unless you then forwarded that same picture to the e-mail again), so other non-send issues may have been fixed too.

Good to hear that your 4G connection is back. Were you troubleshooting something else that lead you to rebooting your phone (and possibly fixing your connection issue)? Did you recently update one or multiple apps? Its been found that some apps (like Caller ID) can have a negative effect on connection types and strengths. Maybe an update to one of those types of apps running on your system fixed the issue.

Even though you're using the default message app instead of the Verizon one you should probably install the update for it (if you see it in the Google Play Store), for the simple reason that it appears to effect the default app based on:

If updating the Verizon Message app doesn't fix the problem you could also try disabling the Verizon Message app as detailed in the link, and see if that resolves the problem.
