Eligible for upgrade but want to join another plan

Question

I'm eligible for an upgrade but I also want to join my parent's family plan. I've been eligible since February of this year 2014, and theirs ends February 2015. Is it possible for me to upgrade and still be able to join their plan? What are my choices? I have a samsung galaxy SIII and looking to upgrade to Htc one (m8), thanks

Upgrade and then have your parents do a Assumption Of Liability if you want to keep your number.
