I have an s5, and after reading about some users losing everything on the sd card, can someone tell me if its ok to remove the sd card before updating to 4.4.4.
it's ok to remove it...my card remained intact after 4.4.4 update.
You should be able to install the update without having the SD card in the device.
The card can be removed just be sure to first go to your settings. Then Storage and tap unmount SD card. This should prevent loss of stored data.
I left my card in with all the updates I got and I didn't have any problems loosing anything on the card. I have an otterbox case and there is no way I wanted to take it all off to get at the card unless I absolutely have too. Mary
Your reply is valid and there will be no loss of information with the card mounted. The update will be to the phone and firmware, not the card. Good reply : )
