Ever since the latest Verizon update (not the update to 4.4.4) my GS5 is using data even when connected to wifi. What is the purpose of this and can it be fix it?
You more then likely have some unknown Verizon service or app running or updating that requires their DATA stream. This is not a new problem to lots of phone owners who are not aware of VZW data/update needs and it happen with other phone companies and there required data feed programs. First check your apps and how offen any of your Verizon or other apps need to be updated. Go to apps manager- all apps & see what's installed and then to running apps only. You may find you need to shut some down or do not allow auto updates.
