When I hook my phone up to wi-fi it says that I have no network or internet connection.

I have a galaxy s5 and everytime that I hook up to any wi-fi the phone wont load anything. It says that there is no internet connection or network. I turn the wi-fi off and it works fine. Is there a setting that I have set wrong or something? Please tell me that I am not the only one with this issue. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

This a issue with the wireless router or wireless router/modem combo if that is what you use.

Turn off the broadband modem, and then turn off the wireless router and make sure the device is off.

Turn the modem back on first let it fully cycle up, then do this for the wireless router and let it fully cycle up. Last turn on the cell phone and turn WiFi on then off and then see if the cell phone finds the network. Try and connect again.

In connection issues many times the the security protocol is not accepted by the device. If you have it set for WEP set the router for WPA/WPSK/2 you may have to try different security protocols to get the device to actually access the internet and other data services.

Never run any open network.

Give that a try and let me know if that worked.

You may also find that the modem or the router may need to be replaced. This also is something that happens on many occasions.

Your broadband modem and router may also need a firmware update so that is another avenue to investigate. Before any replacement.

Mine hooks up fine to wifi all over. If this is your home wifi try power cycling your router. Did this just start or has the phone always done this? If home wifi do other devices connect fine? I just got the 4.4.4 update but maybe if you got that it's something to do with that if it just started doing this. Mary

Hi....hooking up to wi-fi isn't the issue....it will connect with no problem.....it just won't actually work. When I connect to any wi-fi and try to do anything that requires data it says either no internet connection, no network, server offline...things like that. It has never really worked on wi-fi since i've had it.

I'll agree Big E, sometimes a routers age just gets the best of them, mine is nearing this juncture and it is only a few years old. it may be time for a replacement for the OP..

The router or internet isnt the problem. The router is brand new. The phone connects fine. it just doesn't respond to the wi-fi. I have 4 other phones and 3 tablets that have absolutely no issues when connected. They are not all connected at the same time. The phone connects to the wi-fi perfectly but as soon as I try to use google, fb, anything it has the no network or other messages. At work I have to use an open connection. Used it for years with no issues. Now this phone will connect but it wont work. I understand how this works I just can't figure out why this is the only phone that I am having issues with. My daughter has an S5 that has no issues with the same Wi-fi connection. That is why I thought maybe I am missing something in one of the settings.
