Weather widget issue

Having a little issue with the S5, when arriving at a new location I refresh the widget, and the location will be slightly off, then I refresh again it gets it right, I have set to high accuracy, my wife has same phone, have seen hers do the exact same thing, I have downloaded other widgets from google play, they all do it, seems like it only happens at certain spots, arriving at work and other random locations, so its not the phone, its not the widget, can somebody expiain what the heck is going on? I upgraded from the S3, it was usually accurate, called Verizon, they had no clue, Im stumped.

The widget is likely pulling the location based on the cellular tower and not your specific location first. The widget setting would need to be changed to use the GPS to give the location and not the cellular network.

Ann154 , A weather widget will only read the data stream from a single location at a time and be accurate. The settings must be for Home or my position for correct readout. They are at their best when on GPS and mobile data while on the go, at home location Wi-fi will be as a rule +/- 3-5 miles.

So you are saying to change location setting from high accuracy to gps? Ill try it

Ok I tried it, from my home, sitting here it seems gps only doesn't work very well, wifi and moble networks are good, ill try that setting tomorrow while traveling and see how it goes

GPS will only work when you have a sky view. Wi-Fi is best used inside and High accuracy is the all around go-to setting. Ann154 is correct in using GPS when outdoors or on the road and a very high degree of location is needed. GPS however is quicker to drain down your battery. Navagation doesn't work with it set to moble and wifi

When I use my weather it usually pulls Data out of major City Wichita.. I can tap Google and ask and it will say the currents for were I live but when using and App called My-Cast it shows Data from a small un-corporated city but I have my Phone set on High for GPS not battery saving.. it seems to help when Traveling.. Its also a good thing to keep any weather apps updated and One weather App I use Highly since we live in Tornado Ville is.. List below..

Changing location setting didn't work, to be clear, at times when arriving at a new location, when I refresh the widget, it will be a town or two off, then if I hit it again, it gets it right, and everytime I refresh after that, its right, but why in the world would it get it wrong that one time? somebody has to know what the heck is going on, so I have eliminated, its not the phone, because my wifes 55 does it too, not the widget, I have tried others, its not the setting, have changed it, if theres an answer out there this is the place to find it, somebody , please fill me in if possible because im stumped

As D.A. . stated the widget will go to a major location first that is near to you and not always your home location. Most operate on a Zip code or city data base and will then search for a location near to your setting for results. The location or name you input will not always be what you want, as it may be a TV station, NWS station etc. where your results are coming from.
