lost contacts. how do i retrieve?

My phone died when it got wet this weekend.   It slowly dried out and i tried to use the Backup Assistant to retrive my contacts.   it retrieved part of them but a lot of newere contacts (within the past 12 months)   it did not retrieve at all.   what else can i do to get them back so i can add them to my new phone?

If the phone is still working, you could try pulling the contacts off with bitpim software, then also use it to put the contacts on the new phone (assuming it's also a basic phone).
