Verizon Message and Samsung Galaxy S5 help

I just started trying to use Verizon Messaging . Since Friday, I've received several messages in the middle of texting saying unfortunately the app has stopped and it completely goes off, not saving what I had typed or anything and for the past 2-2 1/2 hours,i it's been sending me old messages, like from August. Am I doing something wrong?

tnykole77, We want you to enjoy Verizon Messages! It sounds like the error lies withing the app. When did this issue begin? At times a restart of the phone will clear this type of error. Have you tried uninstalling and re installing the application to see if it improves the performance? Please share more details so we can help.

It began Friday, the night I start d using it. It won't let me uninstall it. I can uninstall updates but not the app itself. Yesterday, when it was doing it a lot, I pulled the battery but it continued to do the same thing.
