Galaxy S5 Rebooting

Help from the forum folks please ... My 30 day old Galaxy S5 has rebooted itself at least 20 times in the last 24 hours. Before that I have had no issues. It has not rebooted when I have been using it, only when it is sitting on my desk or table. Last night it rebooted 5 times in 15 minutes. I tried taking the battery out and checking the connections (clean and secure). I have not installed any new apps in the last few days. Any ideas?

Yikes! Sorry to hear your phone is trying to take a vacation. We want to help get this issue resolved so you don't miss any important calls or texts while the phone is rebooting. What was the last app or service used on your phone before it started to reboot? Have you tried putting the phone in safe mode? I will also include the steps to perform a safe mode just in case. My S5, on its own, started behaving correctly right after I posted the original message and did not reboot randomly for about two weeks. Since Saturday 01/24/15, it has rebooted almost every 2-3 minutes. The longest I have noted is 10 minutes. The shortest, 30 seconds.

I have tried the following: removed the battery for 15 minutes, started in safe mode, removed all FB apps, and finally, factory reset through the VZW Software Upgrade Assistant. Since yesterday afternoon I have had it on silent so as not to get on my nerves with the constant start-up sounds.

Thanks for the detailed information. I'm sorry to hear that you're device is acting up again. Were there any changes or updates made around Saturday when this started occurring? Also, were you able to test the device after the Factory reset before adding any applications back on to the device? By testing the device without any 3rd party applications it will help us determine if something on the device is causing these troubles.

I had not made any changes on Saturday and no updates of which I am aware. Some Verizon/Samsung apps are still set to "auto-update" so I am not sure of those. After the factory reset through the VZW Software Upgrade Assistant, my S5 continued to reboot itself every few minutes, with no additional apps or changes to default settings. Now, again, I have placed it on vibrate and turned off many of the tones when touched (keystrokes, open apps, etc.)

There are no apps or third party software on my device (other than those installed by Verizon).
