My gym has open wifi and I am able to connect and see a connection. However I can't connect to the internet (through Chrome) or use any apps such that require a wifi connection. The wifi works fine when connected to a secured wifi.
tjoes267,Definitely want to make sure you can get on wi-fi! That's a great option. What type of phone do you have? What happens when we open Chrome? Does the gym have any instructions available for connecting to that network?AndrewT_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
Chrome has a message that says "this webapge is not available." the next screens says "You are offline. Wi-fi and mobile data are turned off".
The wifi shows as connected with a very strong signal strength, link speed of 13Mbps, Security None and it shows an IP address.
The gym says it is open so no need to sign in or accept terms.
tjoes267,Thanks for that info! Does the same happen if you use a different web browser? Has it ever been able to connect to your gym's wifi and use chrome? SandyS_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
I have not tried other browsers but I am not able to use any applications (music, fitness, youtube, etc) that require wifi. All say I am offline.
While the wifi at my gym is open, there is a welcome page that I have to sign in on each time I go to the gym.
This is not a "secure" network, you just have to sign in on their welcome page before they will grant you data access. If you try to navigate to a page before doing so, you will get messages such as you have listed.
There is no welcome page.
Today I used the wifi of a restaurant that is next door to the gym and was able to connect. It was an open connection, no welcome page or sign in required. I havent tried it in the past because it hasnt been active at the usual time I go to the gym (5am). I went in the afternoon today. At least I narrowed it down to my gym's wifi. I am going to ask the general manager if there is a trick to connecting. So far the other employees haven't been able to help.
I was able to connect to the wifi for a short period of time this morning. Of course it didnt last long.
I now have a problem attempting to connect to my secured wifi at work. When I click on the wifi, it should take me to sign in page as it had for the last few weeks. instead it takes me to google.com which is not connected. The only way i can get on wifi is to manually enter the website login page (ip address??) and login. I am the only person in the office who has this issue.
This is incredibly frustrating.
tjoes267,
Turn wi-fi and mobile data on.
Wi-fi and mobile data are on.
