Absolutely hate latest system update. Nothing works right, constantly overheating, shuts off with no warning.

The latest system update has totally screwed up my phone. I have apps that I use on a daily basis, and now, to get them to work, I have to go into settings, force stop, and then go back into the app. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't ..... Facebook is now a nightmare! I can't write a legible post anymore. It comes out as a bunch of gibberish. I have to type a couple of letters, it adds a couple more on it's own, and then I go back a few spaces and type with extra letters on the end in order to get something legible. Then, I delete the extra letters at the end. My phone is constantly overheating. I run battery doctor on my phone several times a day to shut off apps running in the background. My battery totally drains in less than two hours, and my phone shuts off with absolutely no warning. We have lousy service where we live, and I understand that, but I have wifi, provided by Verizon, that doesn't work most of the time, either. Our internet service is terrible, too. I think, instead of me buying or paying to upgrade my phone, Verizon should give me something to thank me for putting up with such lousy service. I would switch, but Verizon is the only game in town where we live. I have been a loyal Verizon customer for several years, and this is the worst service I've ever experienced from any service provider!

Based on the number of problems you're having, you'll most likely benefit from a Factor Reset. I don't know why some phones have a harder time with the upgrade than others, but most folks typically report after a Factory Reset that some, if not all of their problems were resolved. That being said don't forget to back up your contacts and other important files.

Factory Reset and DISABLE Google account and app data backup and re-enable after your FDR and set up.

Why do we need to factory reset every time there is an update put out? Please give us the option to accept the update. Its not acceptable for me to have to spend hours resetting phones.

I agree! I shouldn't have to reset, force stop, etc, because of a "critical" update. One would think all those parameters were worked out with the update.

I completely understand where you are coming from, 1Chris4321! Is something wrong with your phone? Factory Reset are always beneficial after a major Update so the phone can reconfigure its settings back to normal. These Software updates should improve your phone and will Technology changing every day, they are very important.

Factory reset did NOT help -- at all. Still having Facebook issues. Apps closing while I'm using them. Phone is totally shutting down with no warning, and I can't get it to turn back on. When I plug it in, thinking the battery is dead, it shows I still have 58% battery life!

I agree. I hate this update and it sucks!!!! Has anyone else had the same problem with the chargers since the update? Each time I go to charge my phone, it tells me that it it slow charging and to please use the charger provided with the phone. Gee....what charger do you think I am using? I even bought another one and am getting the same message. At this point, I am ready to go back to my old ENV....went to the Verizon store by me and asked if there is any chance of getting rid of the update and told no...nothing they can do. Not happy with this update or Verizon.

Here's how I solved the problem. Since my phone is less than a year old I contact ed asurion and did a warranty swap for an HTC desire which still runs 4.4. Add long as I can keep HTC from updating the operating system I should be good for a while. I've had excellent luck with HTC phones in the past. Never another Samsung phone!

SaMe issue..I also got "nor enough storage" so I took into store and was told the new lollipop takes almost 8gb of the phones 16gb which is why it's running slow and drags. I can't download an app onto my sd card. You can verify this by going into settings/more/storage and look at your "misc files" that's mostly your operating system, delete files, and the number will still be that high. My spouse even did a factory reset imcase it was a background rouge app. and it was still showing the 8gb under misc files. Nothing you can do about it but upgrade to the newest galaxy. Way to go verizon.

I ended up at a Verizon corporate store. Interestingly enough, none of the employees have done the update yet because of all the problems, and they had stories of other phones, even the S6, being totally fried as a result of this update. Verizon replaced my S4 with a refurbished phone to ride out my contract until I'm eligible for an upgrade, and they had a fantastic offer if I wanted to go ahead and upgrade now. They advised me to decline the update, which I've been doing, but I'm still having a problem with my phone shutting off with absolutely no warning whatsoever, so I'm thinking Verizon now owes me a Samsung battery, because I've tried replacement batteries, and they don't work as well. I appreciate the customer service I received in the store when dealing with this problem, but I'm still a dissatisfied Verizon customer at this point. I am still having phone, Internet, and WiFi issues, and Verizon is my provider for those services, as well.

It is important to have a working phone. I am sorry to learn that you are having troubles with the phone shutting off. We would like to look into this further. When did this issue start? What troubles do you have with Internet, wifi? Are these issues related to the phone shutting off?

I am having that problem aas well. If there is a way to go back to what we had i would love to know about it. This has been a complete nightmare.
