A long time ago I always used to use Songbird for the music player on my phone. A few years back that got discontinued so I couldn't get it anymore when I upgraded my phone. Samsung's music app that ships with the phone was pretty decent on Jellybean and Kit Kat, and so I just started using that.
With the Lollipop update, I can no longer get to the currently-in-use playlist while in landscape mode. This means I have no way to skip around in my playlist while in the car, because my car dock is landscape. All of that UI is still there in this app, but only in portrait mode. For some reason they felt the need to remove almost all of the UI and give you "suggested music" if you rotate into landscape mode. I can't rotate the phone while it's in the dock (nor would I want to, that's a distraction while driving).
I can't image Verizon or Samsung fixing this soon, so does anyone have suggestions for third-party music players?
