notification light not working

My notification light refuses to work no matter what i do, i have tried factory reset, regular reset, installing countless apps whilst factory resting between to make sure. no light flow or motorola widget or anything turns on my notification light, nothing works, does anyone else have this problem?

I thought the Droid Maxx used an active display notification and didn't have a notification LED.  When you get a message or notification, the screen lights up with icons on a mostly black background to let you know you have incoming texts, emails, etc.
