Any issues or changes worth mentioning? I took the update, though it is mainly for the HD Voice VoLTE feature. I don't use data so this is of little use to me, but there were GAPPS updates as well. Very minor overall.
Please be aware that many Android "sources" such as Android Geeks and a few others have mislabeled this as a 4.4.4 update. Our G2s stay at 4.2.2. There will be no other KitKat updates. We will go straight to 5.0.x.
Snn5, didn't even know the update was available. Thanks for letting people know!
Minor correction to your post: our G2s are on 4.4.2 (4.4=KK), not 4.2.2 (4.2 and 4.3=JB).

Yeah, I would have corrected that, but for whatever reason I cannot edit, delete, or any option once posted.

Agreed. The forums are pretty restrictive in that regard. But that didn't lessen the significance of the availability of the update. Anyway, the version thing just is confusing for most people anyway. I remain one of the few people that thought the device was in someways better under 4.2. Ahh progress.
People should read the FAQ carefully w.r.t. Advanced Calling, specifically Video Calling (which counts against one's Data). Also, I've read of others experiencing dropped calls, and people recommending to turn off the feature. People need to be mindful after enabling if they experience issues.
Pretty good for me so far. Snappy and battery life seems improved enough to notice.
My LG G2 has given up on living life after the update. the phone keeps freezing. Everytime there is a system update my phone has an adverse reaction that requires me to reset the handset. This time I can't keep it unfrozen long enough to get into my settings. Sometimes it will freeze with a black screen with only the home bottoms at the bottom showing. Going to take it to Verizon today to try to get it fixed but I'm dreading them telling me that I have to pay for a new phone.
This has happened to me on each OTA update, except this one, go figure. I have the phone replaced under warranty each time. If you are under the one year warranty or have the extended warranty with Verizon this should be no problem to replace, in 2 days, and at no cost. The store will do the same thing the reps would do online or on the phone if you called. The store won't have a replacement, but you can certainly check with them to see if they can rectify the problem today rather than wait a few days.
This may help. Of course the FDR will result in loss of data on your device.

Hopefully that will work, but my experience is that the updates change the recovery partition and corrupt during install or download. Even if the OTA downloads and the checksums are correct, the installation can go through a non terminable error that wont produce a failed install error, but effect the system negatively nonetheless.
Quiet Mode is now sketchy. Only one time before did I have a problem with this feature. It was after the KitKat update. Whether you have it set on auto or manually turn it on, it either doesn't come on or it doesn't go off. Both mine and my girl's G2s have done this with the KK and she complained of it again the other day. I thought nothing of it until I noticed mine doing the same. I have mine set 10pm-6am Sun-Sat. It has always been this way and never turned on or off or made any changes to the settings.

I'm noticing a more rapid battery drain. App managers don't seem to point anything specific as cpu hogging or lagging. The day following the update, my phone booted and was stuck in the Firmware Update, please plug in to USB screen. Some googling on my wife's phone found a workaround to shut down and hold power until the LG logo appears.. That seemed to make the phone functional. This AM, I booted and saw a 'No Service available. Did the volume-power holdd for 10 seconds and then started - waitied for LG logo. Service is working, but have had rapid battery drain. Phone is about a year old.
So, the update DID install correctly? I would let it run as normal unless you have other issues. I wouldn't want to factory reset with Lollipop coming in several weeks (read months) or so. I always factory reset after a major update, but this last one was a small focused update. Try a few recharge and drain cycles. That should help somewhat.
Battery life has become a real problem for me after the update. Used to go 3 days before needing a recharge. Now must recharge daily.
It may be all the disabled apps on my phone, but I have been getting 36+ hours in between charges.
Snn5Glad to hear you were able to regain service. Were you having issues prior to the update with your battery life? Is your phone service fluctuating? This can cause the battery to drain faster. Keep us postedYareliM_VZW Follow us on Twitter at @VZWSupport
I'm not having problems with my battery. Please consult other forum members.
How come I have hd voice as a feature on my Sony Xperia under my Verizon but I still don't have the ability to surf and talk
I was never able to add this feature before because the update had not come out yet
I am confused. Because I thought that he voice could not be added until the phone had the ability
Droid turbo iPhone 6. Galaxy s 5. LG g2 And g3 all had to have the ability to surf and talk before hd voice feature could be added. Now the Xperia can have had voice feature but still can't surf and talk
With Google Voice enabled "Ok Google" from any screen causes people that I call not to hear me. I have to quick go to speaker then back. Half the time they hang up because they can't hear me. Very frustrating. Been having problem since the last update at the end of Summer last year. Can't use "Ok Google" because of it. Not sure if this update fixed but i don't think so. Anyone else have similar problem?
Only thing I can think of is that when you say "OK Google" it cuts off the other sounds and speakers so that the mic can pick up your voice. How GVoice integrates into the mix IDK.
The 'No Service' issue is back to stay this morning. After an overnight charge, unplugged and booted, and the phone shows 'No service' 2 consecutive power.volume down resets did not fix. Plugged back in and it reboots instead of charges when off. Taking it to the store this morning.
Since the update, my LG G2 Knock-On feature no longer works correctly. Now my phone will knock-off, but not knock-on. I've done a factory reset, checked the touch screen for sensitivity, and calibrated the sensor.
Well, I know there is an app that mimics the knock feature like is used with other launcher apps. I'd say wait till the 5.0.x update comes and maybe it gets kicked into working, but IDK when that will come, only that it will. If that's you're only present problem, you might wait till then. If you can't then you might still be under warranty and definitely are if you have extended warranty.
I have noticed that Quiet Mode is intermittent with how it activates some days and doesn't on other days. I have the same time set for all 7 days.
Contact LG and complain. I think this has burned others. You'd probably have to update the firmware in the device, but I think we don't have the access to do so. Some people I believe have given themselves super user access by modding their phone do they could install a service menu app that would allow updating the touch screen firmware. Doing so however boss the warranty. Research it.
Tell LG you want a new, not refurbished phone. Good luck.
The Quiet Mode will work for months at the time before failing and has done so since I bought my first G2. 3 more later and it is still a here and there kind of error. Thought all was fine after the 27A update until recently. It's not a deal breaker for me though. LG will not replace with a new phone. I gave up long ago on that. I also understand that the warranty process uses refurb phones and knew that going in due to experiences in the past several years with defects. I am familiar with the mod community and have strayed far from that as there is almost always a guaranteed chance of mishap.
