The Perfect Storm

Got tired of waiting on Verizon to release a new 5.0 Software for the Storm 1 to fix the Screen Dim and Voice Dial problems. Picked up 5.0.0.419 online and installed, Wow, I now have the Perfect Storm. No More Screen Dimming, Voice Dial works perfect, Pop up Keys on keyboard like Iphone (you can now see what you are typing) It's Fantastic! I will keep my Storm 1 now for sure. No need to update to Storm 2. If you find online make sure you delete Vendor file before install. BBOS and Crackberry have all you will need to find and instructions. Verizon needs to be a little more efficient in updating there bad software, There's no excuse for not fixing as soon as possible. (Yeah we always get the same thing, We have to make sure it suits our network, What a joke) RIM tests all these before they are released to the carriers.

Huh, that's funny you post, that I was going to post, has anyone tried .
419 software Nice Macdaddy you saved me a post eeee. Yeah so that's cool it has
fixed the dimming, in which I only put in portrait undimmes then switch to
landscape and Wall A Oh and about pop up I get that, don't you all get that, the
only that I have not tried is voicedail. Awesome though I Like the post Mann great
Info...Hey give us more on what else it does, becuase if those 3 issues only then sticking what I have for right now.

Yeah, I'm really lovin it! Don't know why Verizon hasn't released it yet, It would solve a boat load of their problems with complaints. Also went from 32 to 38.5 MB on the App memory, Which means ALOT when you only have 128MB. And the Voice Dial was a must, as I drive 2 and a half hours every day.

Sweet, hey so I just tried voice dial and it works perfect, I never knew you can check like battery status etc.. I was like Wow that's neat. Alright about memory you gain about 8 a little smaller software that's cool, I am still confused in how I get 49MB and you and others get around 30MB on voice dial what was not working..?

Installed the .419 yesterday also. It has taken allot of bugs out and increased the performance greatly. It is a much better phone now and mine runs better than my buddies Storm 2 by a long shot!

Verizon will release this one eventually, it will probably have a little higher number I've heard .428. They test their releases longer than other carriers but this is an official RIM/BlackBerry release so install and enjoy. One thing you guys didn't mention to the masses is be sure to remove the Vendor.XML file before installation.

I will give you guys a little tip. Cut a stiff business card or something similar to fit underneath the battery. In most cases this will stiffen up the keyboard click a little. All units are different but on most this helps.

JCM didn't you tell me you had deleted all the office stuff on your S1?like Tasks,memo pad, word to go,Sheet to go, slideshow to go and so on? That could account for a lot of freeing up MBs.

Have mine under the battery. What this does is tighten up the battery in its slot. Some aftermarket batteries are a little larger and do this without the added paper. On mine it makes the clicking feel firmer especially in the corners where the screen is sometimes a little mushy.

A clean and shrunk install will give you around 50-55mb free. I get around 52 before adding my apps that I use. Since .328 and now .419 I boot with around 42. .419 is very stable so far. Phone been on around 30 hours now and sitting at 41.8mb free. So if JCM is shrinking OS or removing apps after install that would explain his high app memory. Mystery solved! :smileyhappy:

Yup, I mentioned deleting the Vender File in the original post. I don't shink my OS, Run about 6 Apps and still get 38.5 and holds it too!
