Galaxy S5 extremely laggy and unresponsive after lollipop update

My wife and I both Have Galaxy S5s, and have loved them. However, once the lollipop update installed both phones are extremely laggy, practically unresponsive and almost unusable. apps take forever to open. it takes longer to switch between the two, typing is delaved by several secconds. it's like the HTC G1 all over again. I've never wanted an iphone so much in my life. I'm assuming I'm not the only one? Is there NOTHING I can do about my phone before I want to throw it against the wall?

Apps crashing is so annoying! This is something that we certainly need to help fix with you. Do any of these apps have updates? Often times when there is a dramatic software update the apps are no longer compatible, which can cause the phone to operate incorrectly. You can also try putting your phone in Safe Mode http://vz.to/1u4Pjtp to see if turning off all non-essential apps improves performance.

Mine is the same way apps constantly crashing saying unfortunately contacts has stopped I mean even my contacts keeps crashing help Verizon

I am sorry to hear of the issues you both are having after the software update. There seems to be a variety of issues you are having. Is the phone laggy and unresponsive only in certain apps? Are you both having issues with the same apps taking forever to open? Are all your apps currently up to date? So that's the solution, to blame the apps? I am having the exact same issues after the update and I keep my phone as clean of apps as I can. I loved my phone and now, barely functional.

Blaming this on apps is dumb. Running on safe mode isnt what I bought a 600 dollar smartphone for. I finally said enough and did a factory reset, this seems to have resolved most the issues, but I shouldn't have to do that. To everyone having issues, backup your stuff and reset it

Do you happen to have Facebook/Facebook Messenger installed? Those specifically have been known to cause problems with Lollipop on S5 both in this forum and elsewhere online. I ran into the same issue on an older Android with an OS update. Try uninstalling them and see if anything behaves better. I have two S5's in my house both on Lollipop and working fine and my brother has one too that is operating fine with Lollipop.
