Lollipop upgrade has made my phone almost useless to me. Why is Verizon still pushing this out to the L3 and other phones?

My phone on Lollipop is pretty much useless for me now. Battery drain causes me to keep on charger most of the day now. Phone switches to 1x once a day causing me to shutdown, remove SIMM reboot and shutdown and reinsert SIMM. Notification panel disappears at random then reappears at random. I did a factory reset last weekend hoping I would ger some improvement but was very disappointed it did not. I am paying for extended warranty can I get a replacement for this? If not this will be my last Verizon phone once my contract expires I'm extremely upset! And now my wife is getting prompted to install the upgrade on her L3, heaven help us!!!

Same problems on my LG2,messed my perfect phone all up.won't load properly,laggs playing videos,

changes my screens whenever it feels like,and eats the heck out of my battery. So disgusted

Yes, extended warranty will get you a replacement G2. When you get it, charge to 100% and take the update immediately, before even setting up the phone. This is your best chance for a clean install of the update.

Okay but I guess with a replacement I'm taking my chances since it's a refurbished phone and I could end up with a worse phone than what I have now. I'll have to decide if I want to take that chance.

That certainly isn't what we want to see happen on your phone. It's important that you have a device you can rely on. Let's make sure we figure this out and get it back to working like it should. When you did the reset, did you then install your apps back on the phone? Have we tried safe mode http://vz.to/1C72zjh to see if it runs better there?

Lollipop has ruined my phone in about the same way. Constant battery drain, phone actually over heating, screen comes on while talking on the phone so that my head is messing with apps, constant GPS searches even while stationary, apps that worked fine in the past glitching out to the point of needing to be deleted, and then last night my phone started keeping time 5 hours ahead and wouldn't fix no matter what I did.

Lollipop OS has messed up a tool that I use heavily in my daily life. I can't depend on my phone to have power and now I can't depend on it to simply tell time. I've seen nothing beneficial come from this update and I've seen no steps taken to correct the blunder.

Any repaired phone, for any reason, be it hardware or software is refurbished. Even your brand new phone is considered refurbished if it is repaired.

Updates are meant to improve your phone, not cause you headaches. Let's get your phone acting right.

Do you also have the LG G3? It will take the device some time to normalize, generally 2-3 days after a major software update. Additionally, beyond that time period there may be situations where downloaded application developers do not immediately update their applications to support new versions of the OS. Causing the phone to work twice as hard to run them (even in the background when you're not using them) creating the extra lag and heat. Have you checked to see if there are any updates available in the Play Store for your apps? Have you run the phone in safe mode http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-112843/?

No, I don't have the G3, I have the G2. The day I spent dealing with the

issues with my phone was completely wasted. In the store, Verizon says

they've never heard of the issue, the fault lies with the towers and asks

me to call when I see the problem come up. On the phone, Verizon says

they've seen the problem before, the fault lies with the hardware and

suggests I talk to LG about resetting my phone. LG says they can do the

software reset but I'll have no phone while they work on it and I'll still

be prompted to update the software.

The only method of fixing my issue has been to manually set the time and

date on my phone and to treat it as slightly more useful than a calculator

while waiting for all parties involved to decide this issue is worth

fixing. The fact that these issues have happened at all have me seriously

doubting the quality of any Android product, as the programmers didn't

spend sufficient time testing the software before pushing it live on all

users.

ddladams...it shouldn't be ur hardware if ur phone was working fine before the lollipop update. Hardware and Software are totally different....several ppl are having issues with the Lollipop upgrade, even me. My suggestion is if u can roll back to kitkat til Verizon says they have fixed Lollipop then do it. What happens is Google writes the os and sends it to LG (for me it would be samsung since my android is note3) LG adds the stuff to make it work for their phones, then they send out to the providers (for us it is Verizon) Verizon then adds their own crap to it before they release it. I've heard the only providers having lollipop issues is Verizon and Sprint. So for us it's the providers who have messed up lollipop, it's why I suggest rolling back to kitkat if u can ( call customer service and asked to be transferred to tech and they will help u with that ) and just stick with kitkat til u start hearing that verizon has fixed the lollipop...then if u try lollipop again and it's still messed up then u know that u can always roll back to the last os version (kitkat) that worked for u. It is annoying, but trust me if u can roll back u'll be fine :smileyhappy: Good Luck

When are we as customers going to have the right to not update our property? When are we as owners of our cell phones going to have the right to revert back to an earlier android operating system? I bought my phone from a 3rd party. Paid over $300 for my Lg G3 so I could keep my unlimited data. I have enjoyed the G3. This lollipop android (version POS) not only forced itself on my phone even after I denied it multiple times, but now VERY frequently it is asking me to launch it. Why am I forced to suffer crappy software that I don't want? Since I got my phone from a private seller, there is no replacement when lollipop forces itself to auto update. I called a Verizon customer service rep and asked where the uodate file is so I can delete it. Apparently, we are force feed this software update and the update file is hidden. I remember being able to find the file named "update", and then could delete it from MY cell phone. Off course we can all root our phones and really take ownership of the property we pay for. Of course in doing so with the phone you bought is an issue with Verizon. I guess my only other option to rooting my phone, is to do a system restore. Enter in the hidden menu code and turn off the OTA (over the air) updates. Hoping that a system restore will wipe the memory and lollipop along with it. I'm sure the deep thinkers at VZW made this update able to remain on the phones memory despite being wiped.

When you say things like this above, someone who knows what they are talking about would perhaps plead with you to not try any of what you think you know how to do.

Verizon pushes nothing when it comes to the operating system of any device. The update is from the manufacture and Google.

I also like Verizon's policy to force crappy software on your phone after editing the software. Where is the LG WEB BROWSER that came with every other carriers G3? I guess us as your customers are unable to decide what apps we want on our phones. So you force this latest "upgrade" lollipop on our phones Then of course there are problems and we are left with a crappy phone that if it performed like it is with lollipop, no-one would have purchased the LG G3. Then Verizon doesn't take ownership in the fact that it is them and their policies on software updates that screws up my cell phone and cell phone experience, with a product I was enjoying. Sadly, this happens with every android device Verizon sells. Yes, it's Google's software. Yes Verizon tweaks it to fit what they want you to have. Take the LG WEB BROWSER as an example. It's LG 's web browser that they included in their software. Who edited it out? Verizon. And I know what I'm talking about when I make statements.

I am not the only one who thinks this way. I'm am also not the only one that knows how to root my phone. I am not the only one that knows how to go into a hidden menu and turn off certain options like auto update. I guess since you obviously enjoy the lollipop "experience", you would plead with those of us who suffer it's insufficientcies; to not seek ways to rectify issues the update is causing. I guess maybe this is the only forum on the LG G3 you visit, and everyone with the lollipop curse from Verizon is enjoying thier experiences with a phone that now sucks. You may not want options. The rest of us who hate the force feeding of updates that screw up our phones need more options.

I'm having the same issues since the Lollipop update! Cannot get my email but every 2 days - FB takes about 5 days and my battery is constantly dead. It's dead dead now and I can't get it to charge.... so very frustrating when you pay $$ for a service and get no service!

Well if you could revert back to an operational cell phone thete would be no issue for you our for anyone for that matter. Till they decide to fix the issues they created. But they call it an update. So you have a phone, Verizon pushes an update out after tweaking it from LG. Your in stuck in a contract, so your paying for service on a phone that is pretty much useless. Again, why are we forced to deal with a product that was fine till Verizon forces a fully untested update/downgrade onto us? Verizon tweaked the LG's original android op system and sets it up so I can't even install LG 's web browser app. They deleted it from the original software, but why am I then unable to install it onto my phone?

DO I OWN MY PHONE THAT I BOUGHT OUT RIGHT?

WHY DOES VERIZON FEEL THE NEED TO CONTROL WHAT I WANT TO INSTALL ON MY PHONE?

What's really crappy is that one of the reasons I liked the G3 was the LG browser that it had. I didn't think Verizon was so controling that a web browser app from the phones manufacturer would have been withheld from its customers. I found the app on the web. Downloaded it and tried tho install on my phone, but was denied permission.

WHAT GIVES VERIZON? How do I gain owner privileges of something I paid for?

Updates are meant to improve your phone not cause you headaches. Did all these issues start right after the update? What phone do you have? have you tried to uninstall and reinstall your email account and the Facebook app? How long is the battery life? Are you using the original charger?

I am with you this update has made my phone useless at work. I get the obtaining IP address loop. It only happens at my job and no where else. Verizon said you need to talk to the IT people at my job. Well it seems one of 2 things could fix it. 1 reset the router ( thats funny I work at a large government facility and they are not going to reset the router just for me) 2 get a new phone from Verizon( they said that I would just get the same issue. doubtful in my opinion since only my phone has the problem). I think its time to switch carriers. Not very happy with them right now and their support services.

It seems as though they want to put the blame on everything but their software. If your phone is working great and you have no problems, you then update and something isn't right then it is their doing and their software. I like how the deep thinkers and "professionals" at Verizon, that force these updates onto us without us wanting them wont take responsibility.

WHY ISN'T THE ABILITY TO DOWNGRADE BUILT INTO THE SOFTWARE VERIZON?

You certainly like to tweak every manufacturers software they send out in a form of an android update. Im sure you can put that in as well as all your bloatware. Especially when you also tweak their software by removing their own apps like the LG Web Browser.

I guess since there is no money to be made with common sense solutions, we will continue to have these problems. It's their way of making you want to buy another phone from them and being extended into another contract. All I know is that there are tons and tons of threads devoted to the mess the Verizon Lg G3 is in with the android 5.0 update. I implore you to check them out.

No JohnB_VZW, in no way did your software mess up our phones. I mean this isn't a thread devoted to such a topic is it? You also have to ask what phone the person has.

Fact: The charger is not the issue

Fact: All these issues happened with your Verizon Update. Hence the complaints happening after you forced the update onto us.

Fact: Why would the charger have anything to do with software? That is as stupid as blaming everything but the FACT that it is your software that are causing all these headaches.

So PLEASE stop trying to explain these issue with excuses, and please start working on fixing your screw ups. We are not all stupid. I wonder how many other customers are considering changing carriers out of frustration. The LG G3 isn't that old and you done already screwed it up and made it pretty much a paper weight. That's an expensive paper weight.

I forgot to add that these issues should have been tested out and troubleshooted before releasing and forcing the update. Why wasn't that done?
