What gives, why are you holding the update?

I just spoke with a Motorola rep, and they said that it is waiting for the carrier support to update to Lollipop (5.0). What gives, why are you holding the update? Are you trying to make some other phone sell better, would it not make sense to update the flagship phone?

Motorola developer said they are dropping 5.0 update for the Turbo and are working on giving 5.1 which was recently released by Google. Verizon isn't withholding anything they didn't receive.

They have had the update, Motorola gave it to them. Pending carrier suport means that the carrier has it but has not approved it, or has not pushed the approved the update out to phones. I would trust the manufacturer of the phone over the carrier.

Again no that did not happen and it's been verified by the same developer. A low level rep will NEVER know compared to the guy who leads the developer team for Motorola. Sorry not buying it.

pending carrier support is just a generic message. That page said that since BEFORE 5.0 even came out when they said 5.0 was coming. I don't put much stock in that sorry. FYI Motorola does a soak test when they are finished with the update BEFORE it's submitted to the carrier. Motorola removed that soak test and delivered the message 5.1 is coming at that point.

NEWS FLASH: 1 JULY 2015. "Verizon announced today the long awaited 4.1 upgrade for the Droid Turbo had been pulled due to excessive bugs and would receive 5.2, once testing is complete."

"In other news Verizon announced the much rumored Droid Supercharger will be available next week. Features include a 7 inch screen, 50,000 mha battery and will run on the new 6.0 Peppermint Patty operating system."

Just remembered...a couple of phones ago I had a Motorola (Proton, I think). Latest and greatest from the big M. Less than a year after introduction, Motorola decided to discontinue updates. There was a huge backlash and Motorola offered a rebate ($100???) if you bought a new whatever they had introduced.. This didn't help much as most owners were a year or less into a two year contract.

My fault for forgetting history repeats itself.

Motorola did that with ALL their devices wasn't just for the ones on Verizon. Included overseas. This was all the while Motorola was bought out from Google and they were downsizing so Google made cuts at that point.

Different scenario now. Motorola is on the upswing and they chose to go to the newer version over the older version. You'll get the update, and i'll put money on it.

The Droid Turbo is a big turd. What a joke of a phone. This is my last Motorola and as soon as I find a different carrier, Verizon can suck it too. They are a good pair as both have completely worthless service. My Turbo is just over 2 months old, it is now completely dead. It won't turn on, power button is messed up, dropped a lot of calls my other phones didn't, poor wifi reception. It doesn't seem to mesh with the same apps I used on other phones. What a complete piece of shit this is and Verizon is no help.

I'm sorry to learn of the issues you are experiencing with your Droid Turbo th64! My priority is to first power your phone on! Then we can troubleshoot any other issues. When was the last time you were able to power on the phone? Is it fully charges? Have you tried charging with other chargers? You indicate that power button is messed up, is there any physical damage to the power button? In the mean time, please connect your phone to a USB port on your computer and try to power on.

The power button is now stuck into the phone, was that the main issue all along? Hard to say. I had to talk with Motorola to just now get a replacement phone maybe next week if I am lucky. Verizon reps had me go all thru the things to get it to work and nothing helped. BUT HERE IS THE BEST PART, I HAVE LOST ALL MY PICS AND INFORMATION BECAUSE CLOUD BACKED UP ALL MY STUFF SUNDAY TO SOMEWHERE THAT IS NOT MY CLOUD ACCOUNT. This wouldn't have been an issue if motorola would still be allowing you to add your own memory cards. Garbage phone. I should have never left my old backup app, it never failed me and all verizon's cloud has done is lost everything. Garbage Service. For the first time ever, I am currently researching new cell phone carriers, I believe Verizon and I are pretty much done.

I think we are all complaining about the same thing but different lol. It's the whole Turbo/Verizon experience. If motorola says they are waiting for the carrier then that's on Verizon. Why aren't they doing the update? Is there a problem with the phones system accepting the update? Like I said, it's all about the experience, all of our issues relate back to that.

These wireless carriers are the only ones I know that can get by with providing no answers and no updates to fix problems, and there is virtually nothing you can do about it. I personally have no issues at all with the Turbo as mine works perfectly, has never dropped a call even using Advanced Calling and has booming WiFi and signal. That was not the case with my device a few years ago which was the Droid Charge. Poor signal, dropped calls, etc. Just had to suck it up for 2 years until I got a Samsung GS3 and all the problems disappeared. Looks like I got lucky with the Turbo too. I really think the quality control on these devices is poor. They are put together in a rush and some of them just suck. I think if you get one of those devices you should be entitled to a new one. What else can explain that many of us have no issues at all with the Turbo and others can hardly use it. And yes, completely unacceptable that we're 6 months in with this device and no OS update, while my son's 2+ year old GS4 now has Lollipop. The droid Turbo is a very expensive Verizon exclusive phone that was sold with the promise of a flagship device that was Lollipop ready. Yes, I know some of you will say they didn't "promise" you any updates, or it is Moto's fault, but we all know that is the way this device was marketed, and Verizon, probably being the world's largest (and best in my opinion) carrier should be ashamed for not providing Turbo owners of what is going on.

It does sound like you have been through a lot with the phone. We certainly don't want any of our customers to have a poor experience. I'm glad to hear that a replacement is on the way to you, but in the meantime we can definitely look into your cloud content. Are you logging in with the My Verizon account that is affiliated with your specific number? If there are more than one number on an account, each phone line and login will have a separate cloud space.

In what way does the lack of an SD card slot prevent you from hooking up the phone to your PC, and backing up the data that way? Don't blame the phone, blame the user - if you are relying on cloud backups only, I think it's fair to say you are part to blame for that one, if your data was truly that important. Never rely on third party services or automation that you do not control to backup your data. As everything in this world that should be important to you, you should take all the right measures and precautions to ensure you have what you need, and should not blame others. But this is the society we live in these days.... people are always quick to blame others.

I have had the Turbo since it was first released, and have has none of the problems you speak of. So perhaps I am just fortunate to have better luck with mine, but to say that the phone is garbage is an inaccurate statement based on the experience I have had with mine, and others have had with theirs.
