Data unlocking

A got my SIII in 2013 and plan to upgrade it to the S5 as soon as I can.

When I got it, I called tech support about using the phone while on a European trip, I was told that the phone was "World Ready" and just needed to switch SIM's. Well, that was half-true. The phone worked with a new SIM card but only in voice mode (I didn't try SMS) but I could not get Data mode to work and that was the main reason to take it in the trip. The phone would not let me change the APN.

I have a couple of questions

- Before I upgrade to the S5, can the APN lock be unlocked temporarily for a trip outside the US?

- Once I upgrade the S5, the SIII will be used for trips outside the US. Can it be completely APN unlocked?

We definitely want you to be able to use your device where you need it. The APN settings are not locked by us. In fact, all of our 4G devices such as the SIII, are globally unlocked.
