When is the Samsung Galaxy S4 getting the Android 5.0/5.0.1 Lollipop Update?
Oh man, have you seen the S5 update related threads? You don't want this update right now if it is anything like that.
As someone who has had issues since the NG6 update and currently experiencing problems with the NK1 update, I'll rather take my chances and see what 5.0 does for me.
Hopefully never...the s5 forums as mentioned previously are enough reason to be okay with not getting it.
I've heard horror stories about it crashin the Samsung Galaxy S5! I don't dare to update yet. Any news on a time frame for the release of 5.0.1 ?
Lollipop basically bricked my Nexus 7 tablet. Google recently did an OS update that was supposed to fix the problems Lollipop caused. It didn't fix anything. I don't know why anyone would want the Lollipop update for the S4. I feel sorry for those poor S5 owners who have had nothing but trouble with their phones after the Lollipop install.
I have an S5, I heard about all the issues with 5.0 lollipop and when my update arrived, my first reaction was "postpone". It told me the next 2 updates would prepare my phone for the Android Lollipop v 5.0 update. I postponed the initial first update for almost a month and then inadvertently bumped the wrong button and it started to update. I only received the 1st one, Kit Kat 4.4.4, and then nothing else at all ! Maybe Verizon did the smart thing and pulled the updates until they release Lollipop 5.1. Not sure but so very glad that my phone didn't update yet ! I was searching for information regarding this issue and found a blog post discussing how to backdate your S5 back to KitKat 4.4.4 so at least it's possible to return the phone to a functional state.
Contrary to popular belief not only was it a small group posting and reposting but there was 99% user error after the upgrade. I hardly think there was an issue. I'll be able to prove that once and for all when I get it on my note.
Why has this question not been answered? Certainly 6 weeks is long enough to make some sort of response, even if it is "None of your business", which unfortunately, the way Verizon makes its customers feel way more often than not.
For what it's worth, 5.1 made my Nexus 7. I didn't think it could be worse than 5.0, but it is. I don't know why anyone would want Lollipop with all the problems it causes.
I have talked to several Samsung service techs that tell me over 65 to 70% of the S5's coming in have been hit with 5.0 problems in one way or another. Not good news for Samsung, Verizon or Google.
And yet there coming out with G-6 hopefully with all the issues roped up don't know if I'd want to buy one at launch time but that's just me ole B33 Leary as alley Cat. ha ha ha..
Still no answer on when the update will arive. Instead of answering your question, I wonder if anyone will chime in on how Lollipop is doing on the S5's? Nah! Why would anyone bother doing that instead of answering your original question. Internet.....
Nobody knows when it will arrive. Verizon does not publish a date. One day it will just show up on you phone to accept or temporarily reject.
I have been checking the samsung.youmobile web site, most of the s4 are getting lollipop 5.0.1 but nothing for the cdma brand of s4 as of yet but hopefully soon I have 2 s4 that could use the update.
The update went fine on my Nexus 7 tablet. I hope you get it worked out.
