Can anyone help me keep wifi off on my S5? Since the last update my wifi keeps turning on without input from me. I have unlimited data and don't use the wifi much to extend the battery but this is killing it now.
I've tried that and that doesn't help. I've disabled every advanced setting possible
do you have wi-fi turned off & smart switch off?
Yes. Disabled all of those and even put the GPS to GPS only.
I was hoping to not need that but I'll have to give a try.
I couldn't get my WiFi to turn ON ! Tech Support was worthless ! Instead of Factory Reset I did the "Reset Settings" just under the Factory Reset. This fixed the problem for me.
I've tread through several threads and Verizon sorry seems to have no idea what is going on. Same recommendations to everyone that don't work.
Welcome to the thread, Aponzini. I’m to understand you’ve a Galaxy S5 is also experiencing this quirk where the wi-fi won’t turn off? One angle that I’m not seeing posted in addition to turning off Smart switch is the verifying that “Wi-Fi Notifications” are off as well. The location of this setting is in Settings> WiFi > Advanced > Wi-Fi Notifications. Ensure that this is unchecked.

I am having all the same WiFi issues and have already tried every fix suggested without success. It is a real shame that there are no technical solutions outside a reset. And even that is not guaranteed to work. I am very disappointed in Verizon. This issue is all over the Internet and it is a real shame that there is no solution and no accountability.
i'm sorry to hear you're having the same issues, IzzyGrimes. Rest assured we are committed to getting this resolved for you. Thank you for the steps you have already attempted to resolve this issue. I understand that Factory resets are no fun, but we generally do that when all the other options are exhausted. I'm not sure we are there yet with your issue because each one can be a little different than the first.
With that said, I want to learn more about your issue. When did it first start? Did it ever work? Anyone else having the same issue in your household?JosephE_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupportIf my response answered your question please click the 'Correct Answer' button under my response. Why are you blaming Verizon for an odd fault in a Samsung phone? It might be a Samsung software problem.
