some programs that I want to use need flash player. i tried to down load it onto the phone and it won't do it. what can you use instead to watch certain programs

Nothing, Flash is not currently supported. It is supposed to be supported in the 2.2 update that is supposedly coming out next month.
I agree don't listen to the peeps talking about the root or hacked Android software that allows for the 2.2 upgrade, I wish they would of had that issue taken care of when they released the phone but I would rather have the phone now and the upgrade next month as BDawg mentioned so hang in there its coming and it will help out alot for web browsing.
