sms delivery report unsuccessful

Starting about a week ago, the delivery reports for text messages I send to other vzw users state that the message status is "unsuccessful." Previously, the messages would be reported as delivered. The recipients are receiving my texts, but the report states otherwise. The time stamp on the report is also off by several hours. For example, the time stamp on the sent text will say 9:40am, which is correct, but the delivery status will say that text was unsuccessfully sent at 1:40am.

Is anybody experiencing the same or similar issues? Is there a resolution? I've already tried battery pulls, resets, and *228 option 2, to no avail.

Which device do you have giving you unsuccessful SMS reports?

I have an HTC Incredible. The stock messaging application does not have a time stamp for delivery reports, but I use a 3rd party messaging app that does (handcent sms), so the time issue may just have to do with the app that I'm using.

Regardless of that, the delivery reports in both applications show that all messages sent after June 15 are unsuccessful, even though they are being received on the other end.

Try disabling your delivery notifications and re-enabling them. The steps are below.

From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located in the lower-left).
Touch Messages.
Touch Menu.
Touch Settings.
From Text message (SMS) settings, touch Delivery reports.
Enabled when a green check mark is present.
From Multimedia message (MMS) settings, touch Delivery reports.
Enabled when a green check mark is present.

Hope this helps.

Try dialing *228 send and option 1 to re-program your phone, to see if this will correct the incorrect time on the time stamp.

The timestamp issue I resolved in the handcent app settings. Turns out it is not related to the delivery report issue.

I tried disabling and re-enabling my delivery notifications per your suggestion and sent a test sms to a vzw user afterward, but the reports still come up as unsucecssful.

Perhaps the 3rd party app and Verizon are not communicating, so the messages sent through the handcent app are not seen as delivered by Verizon, or vice versa? Just guessing here....

Battery pulls have not worked. Messages I send through the native messaging app produce the same results.
