Is anyone else having difficulty with call quality on their Galaxy S5?

Is anyone else having difficulty with call quality on their Galaxy S5? I can hear callers just fine but they often have trouble hearing me. I've had my phone for more than 3 months and have tried everything I can think of but am still having the same issue. Any advice is much appreciated.

Yes, I've had call quality issues with my S5. I can hear callers just fine. To them, I sound broken, or they hear nothing but static and garbled noise. Speakerphone works, but is not ideal. Bluetooth works, but I'm not always in my car or connected to bluetooth. A plugged in headset works.

For a time, turning off bluetooth seemed to resolve this. Then I did the update to Lollipop, and the issue intensified. I've tried multiple setting combinations (HD calling off and on, Bluetooth off and on, network Global to LTE/CDMA, Noise reduction off and on, etc...) I've done a system cache clear, FDR, deactivated and reactivated.... finally activated another phone I had available since the S5 was pretty much unusable as a phone. And I'm waiting for a patch to see if it makes a difference.

I wish I had a solution....

I am also having problems. My phone is only a coupe weeks old. It's clear on my end, but several times I've had callers tell me I am breaking up or sound like I'm in a tunnel or something. I've had calls disconnect in the middle of a conversation. Also, many times it will start dialing a call then just disconnect. Sometimes takes me 5 or 6 tries to make a call. All these problems have been inside my house. I haven't had any trouble outside. I was thinking maybe I need a signal booster for in the house. (My signal inside is usually only 1 bar.)

Same problem. We updated Android on two Galaxy S5's a few days ago when the notification came in and since then every call has dropped within a few seconds on both phones. Even calls between phones in the same room drop out. We never had a problem before this update. Is there a way to roll back the update?

No is the short answer, it's not that easy. You can go the route of doing the factory data reset but even that's not 100%.

Thanks for the heads up regarding concerns since the software update. The software team would need some more data to further investigate. Has there been a resolution ticket filed to try to track those dropped calls? This way they can track it back to the software update. There is no way to revert back to a previous software version.

I am still on 4.4.4 so the upgrade doesn't have anything to do with my issue. I didn't realize the upgrade was there. Going to see about it now. I am just wondering if I need a signal booster in the house. My husband also has an S5 and he says he has had no problems. (But he is not in the house as much as I am.)

i didn't use wi-fi, both downloads were 300 meg.

I know how important call quality is. If you're husband doesn't seem to be experiencing troubles, then it may be an issue with your specific device/software. Do you currently have an update available in your settings? Thanks

I had my S5 for about 3 months with the same problem. I opened a case with Verizon, they tested over the phone and discovered it had a problem. They sent me a new one. My new one is perfect- no sound quality issues.

Did you ever get your phone quality to improve? Here we are months later...I just upgrade a few weeks ago and have horrible call quality. I have used it at home, out of state, in town, out of town, etc. no difference. Have tried all the troubleshooting tips...nothing.

Deciding if it is worth getting an replacement S5 or should I consider another make/model? Just wondering what the outcome of everyone's experience was?

We always want you to get world class service on your phone! That's incredibly important. We're glad to help. When did this start? Does it seem to be the same on all calls? Is it the same if you use the phone on speakerphone or using a headset?

Yes. It is all calls. I have called using speaker, not speaker, other cell

phones as well as landlines. No difference. Have tried to clear the phone's

cache, use HD voice, and have changed different in call settings. Nothing

seems to help. Tried 2 different cases as well as calling without a case.

Still echoing and garbled on my recipient's end.

The phone is brand new. I have it less than a month and the call quality

from what others tell me has never been good. At first I thought it was

maybe the recipient's phone but that doesn't seem to be the case. :smileysad:

I have full coverage on my phone but was told by other Verizon customers

that since it has been more than 15 days I am stuck with this.

Having impeccable call quality is important, chelytoad. You've done quite a bit of troubleshooting. Let's dig a bit deeper to see what else we can uncover. What do you have set for voice privacy and noise reduction in Phone Icon - Menu - Settings?
