f I'm going to Mexico and I send texts from there but I have unlimited texting in my normal monthly plan, will I still get charged an additional rate?

Even though you have an unlimited texting plan, it does not apply to text sent/recieved while in Mexico. To send a txt its $0.50, to recieve its $0.05

Usually unlimited text message plans don't include international texting. I found
this great website
called FishText that allows me to send international text messages for just over 1p from my mobile phone. May be quite useful for you!
