Lollipop 5.1

Motorola went on record that the Droid turbo is moving to 5.1. They dropped working on 5.0 as Google said memory management buy was real and Motorola devices that were upgraded(all 5.0.X devices really) were affected by it. If people didn't notice it and they got lucky in the draw and got low priority systems stuck.

Motorola hasn't done any soak testing for 5.1 on the turbo from what I have seen/heard. That means Motorola is still working on it and hasn't submitted anything to Verizon.

Are you upset that you didn't get the 5.0 lollipop? You wanted to be included in the insanely bug filled update? You're lucky you stayed on KitKat. Be Happy.

Not everyone had issues with 5.0 or 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 and 5.1 is supposed to be a lot better in regards to quality control.

You're in the best boat in my opinion, unless we jump forward 2 weeks from now and you're also having crazy issues. Then you'll just be in the same boat as a lot of other folks.

When I bought this phone last November, I was told that it had a 48 hour standby time on battery (it doesn't), and that it would be upgraded to lollipop any day.

The battery lasts nowhere near 48 hours, there is no lollipop in sight.

Sprint is starting to look really good.

It does... Just the apps you have installed may run in the background and causing wake locks which shortens standby time. It's up to not will have.

Why did they say it was being released today?

I figure Verizon is in a catch 22 with the Turbo. It's their flagship phone and one might think updates would be priority with it, but by the same token, Verizon probably wants to make sure that flagship phone gets more testing to stay stable before releasing LP.

This phone lasts me about 16 hours before the battery warning comes up under normal usage, that's no 48 but still good enough for me.

Don3680, do you usually get 4G or 3G service with the Droid?

4glte its a better company and phone then I had with T-Mobile.

So, we waited four ( or more) extra months for different bugs.

Jesse Ventura with Android Underwear said the Turbo will get Lollipop on June 11th. Let's get that one going!

SO, it was a rumor that Christian Today started and spread to other media outlets so customers attack Verizon?

They do not list their source. They just throw a date out there as a headline.

I do apologize then to Verizon, I wish Verizon could be direct and come clean though and say it was false information by Christian Today.

This is completely Verizon's fault. They don't care about their customers apparently. They've got their signed contract and/ or their $600 for the phone, plus the monthly residual income coming in. Why should they give a damn? ALL the other AnDROID devices in the market using Lollipop (12.2% at last report), and the DROID Turbo owners are left out to dry. This device should have been the FIRST device to receive the update. It's the same build as a Nexus 6 which has had the update for how many months. Verizon is only about the $'s and not about the customers who pay those dollars

Why is a phone which is built and designed better then an Apple excluded

from the update? Droid Turbo is one of Verizon's flagship phones and should

be, the only Android phone to my knowledge is the Samsung Galaxy S6 but I

love my Droid Turbo! No it doesn't have a 48 hour battery more like an 18

hour battery before the low battery warning comes on and yes its a smaller

equivalent of a Nexus 6 but still, why is the Droid Turbo excluded from the

update? No I don't want Nexus 6 big phablet Verizon or Galaxy S6 and the S6

is a beautiful phone by the way, I just want to keep my Droid Turbo and

have the same updates as everyone else.

This nobody David Ruddock character is now spreading info about it being June 12th. I beg you all, don't click on any of his news articles, or any of those places that repost his wild guesses. I am a bit frustrated too. I would love to have Lollipop on my Turbo.

That said, the update will be coming soon, but it doesn't look like it will be 5.1, but 5.0.2.

This was taken from the Tech Specs page of the Droid Turbo.

It will be 5.1. Motorola themselves said they are skipping 5.0.X on all devices that haven't been updated to lollipop. It was also later confirmed by Motorola engineers that the Droid Turbo was included on that list.

Yes, I read that article as well a few times when a Motorola rep confirmed that it would be 5.1 instead of 5.0.x. However an article from Droid Life (when tends to be accurate on these releases) has some info on it too posted today (6/11)

I really really hope that we do get 5.1. I would hate to have a super buggy 5.0.2.

You guys and your Lollipop updates....hilarious.

You will get the update when it's released. It's an update for a smart phone that already (likely) does everything you need it to do running KitKat. There may be < 2% of people that may NEED a feature introduced in Lollipop that isn't avail for KitKat. It is likely going to introduce more bugs than you currently have, but you all don't care because you want the "better eye candy" and ability to say you are running Lollipop. I have such a hard time understanding why this is so important to you all, but above anything I just find it comical.

I'm just happy I have food on the table and a bathroom I can use rather than being forced to go in the street like someone in a third world country. You guys are hilarious. I hope you get your update soon so we can stop flooding these forums with useless nonsense, leaving room for the users that are actually have troubles with their phone(s) and are posting here seeking help, which one another should be doing for each other; vs bashing Verizon and Motorola over a silly update. Jeesh :smileyhappy:

I'm sorry we aren't as good as you and can't live up to your standard of only super important things mattering.

MiiHere, It is usually 3G. 4G is very sporadic--even though the map says I'm in a 4G coverage area. I am in New Mexico.

Believe me when I tell you that you're lucky you don't have lollipop! I've had it on my HTC One m7 for a month now. I HATE it! Messaging has been buggy, voice search doesn't work, other apps bog down. HATE it!

Well I just ordered a nexus 6. We will see how I like that. Won't have to wait forever for updates :smileyhappy:

I don't care what OS my phone has. I would be happy with Birthday Cake 1.0 if my phone worked relativity close to what's expected.

At this rate I expect to have a (most likely) S6 or even S7 with Marshmallow by the time 5.1 is released.
