DROID X screen twitching and enter letters all by itself

WEll I was one of the first like most of you for the new X. It owrked fine for about 4 days. On monday July 19, the screen started twitching and changing back and forth all by itself. It seems to hang just before it twitches and takes about 30 seconds to stop. I purchased this phone because I know a tested for Motorloa and he has not had any of the problems that I am having.

Is there any time frame for a Fix or should I go back to my old Samsung 760. At least it worked. The new X is fun but I need it to work.

Have you tried applying the new update that was released Monday around 11pm cst? It sounds like you are either having an issue with to many programs running at once, or you have a hardware problem. With the Android operating system an app killer or task manager app is a MUST.

Mine just did that type of thing this afternoon for the first time. I had been talking on the phone and went to home screen after the call and it started twitching and going quickly back and forth between the screens while it twitched. Probably lasted about 10 to 15 seconds. Wouldn't respond to my tries to touch home screen, shut power off etc. It resolved spontaneously and has been working normally. I hadn't been accessing apps or internet.

It's probably overloaded with apps. I blame it on Verizon for adding all their "bloatware" to the phone.

Trying downloading an app called "Free Advanced Task Manager" from the android marketplace. Add it's widget to the home screen and click on it to close all active apps. Should help free a lot of memory.

Also Try "Autorun Killer" to keep every app from starting up when you turn on your phone.

Sounds like something may have used enough of the systems resources to the system that it became momentarily froze and then once it freed up the resources the device then had to catch up which usually leads to the twitch because the unit is reacting to multiple previous interactions.. My WM device use to do this all the time and I guess this may be your case as well..

I have uninstalled all the applications that I had installed since I purchased the phone.

The screen still twitches.

I will download a task mgr prgm today.

How do I uninstall the bloatware installed by Verizon and Motorola?

I respectfully disagree with all of the replies above to this post. The problem described by this post is now documented by many mainstream audio/video/mobile phone review websites. I believe the consensus is that certain "batches" of Droid Xs are just bad (perhaps hardware damage or firmware corruption). I recommend that you return the phone to where you purchased it immediately and request a brand new replacement. Although they may need to put you on a waiting list for a replacement because the phones are in short supply now, it is better in the long run to have a good, working phone. In addition, I recommend calling Verizon tech support, describing the problem to them, and asking them for advice/instruction on what to do. You can find steps for reaching Verizon tech support in my forum posting on the low volume/speaker problem that many, though not all, Droid X users experience. Verizon and Motorola has confirmed this issue and say that it has been fixed.

As I suppose and you can read in my reply above, I believe the "fix" is replacing the phone. Please correct me if I am wrong. (If I am wrong, what is this "fix"?) Just call Verizon tech support.

I had the same problem starting to happen after I installed the update to 1.3.604. I'm talking about the screen responses getting all twitchy, not the other screen issues some of the other posters mentioned here. Specifically what I am noticing is problems with the screen not registering button presses and swipes anymore. Immediately after the install I also had a lot of problems with Swype not working correctly anymore, aborting input in the middle of a word even though I never lost contact with the screen.

It's almost like it doesn't register touches as surely anymore as it did out of the box.
