Applied the update on Friday. Now the "sound and notification" setting does not work. When i click it i get "Unfortunately, settings has stopped"... Please help.
I'm having the same issue!!! I thought I was the only one.
Can someone please shed some light on this odd problem we're having?
This started happening after the lollipop update a few days ago on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
Same problem here, since last nights update. Cleared cache, cleared data, problem exists in safemode as well. Any guidance from Verizon or Google would be appreciated.
Maybe the only way to solve it is to do a factory reset? ><
I'm also now getting "low memory error" all the time and when I check I've got between 300-500mb free. You guys getting that too?
Having the same issue also. Been searching the internet and forums for solutions. It would be helpful if a tech person would respond in some way and give people information on what's going on.
Are you actually suggesting that we factory reset our phones, go through the entire upgrade path again, backup and restore all our data, reinstall all our applications and setup our phone again?
If i am even willing to entertain that solution, do we have the option to defer this upgrade and stick with Kit Kat? Besides the settings not working, i have many other issues including low memory errors, slowness unlocking the phone, random app crashing etc.
This info might be helpful. Found this here: Factory Reset what is it, and why would you? | Android Forums
"A factory reset will also not remove any ROM upgrades or OTA's."
I take that to mean that any upgrades will NOT be lost when performing a factory reset.
Be sure to back up all your data, however!
just finished backup and am in the process of resetting now. I'll keep this group updated on the progress.
Thanks. I am curious to see if it have success
OK, so the factory reset is complete, and the settings crash on notifications and sound is now gone. I also did not have to reinstall the updates as the reset did not effect the version of the ROM. I am in the process of downloading and applying all the apps and restoring the data. I am going through a somewhat systematic process to see if maybe a particular application or configuration may have caused the problem.
More to come.
After a major software update a factory update always best to clear any errors.
But you fail to mention what a pain in the ass it is to reload all the apps, reset the browser, etc.
Whats a bigger pain: reload apps or muddle through performance issues?
I don't have to mention that. Apparently it's common knowledge. What's more annoying the errors or doing the reset.
The biggest pain is redownloading all the apps and setting up the phone again. I'm about 50% done downloading the aps and the settings error is still gone. So far so good. I'll keep the group updated.
OH and the biggest pain is that it also made me reset my Gear S to factory. wtf.. that was totally not necessary. Now i have to configure that device and copy all my music back to it etc. URGH...
I just completed the factory reset and restored and reconfigured my device. It appears to be working correctly now. The settings are completely functioning and I haven't seen a memory error yet.
The only issue with the factory reset is that it also made me factory reset my Gear S, which is kinda ridiculous.
Good to hear. Good luck, and thanks for the updates
