Galaxy s4 won't charge and keeps vibrating and showing Samsung logo every few seconds. It died and now won't turn on or charge.

Yesterday my Galaxy s4 would not charge. I tried every possible charger, wall outlet, and computer. I tried turning it off and on again and it kept vibrating and showing the Samsung logo like it was trying to turn on every few seconds like clock work, even after I took out the battery and put it back in. It did this all night until the screen would not come on, it would just vibrate, and now it does nothing no matter what button I push.

It sounds like it may be time for a new phone I'm sorry to say. If you have already done a factory data reset and now the issue with OS and fatal error you may have a software boot looping issue.

I have insurance on it, should I just file a claim and get a new one? Would this be covered?

I would return this phone as you do have insurance to cover and your replacment phone may be your best move over a broken S4 that you have now.

I think I will do that. I could use an upgrade, this phone has had issues for a long time. Do you by chance have any recommendations on a better phone? I want one as new as possible since I only upgrade every few years.

I tend to favor Samsung, HTC and LG, but it must be a good fit for you as you will be living with it day to day. Do your research first, read-read -read and decide what you really need and not just what you think you want. Do you need long battery life, high storage or perhaps a great camera. Your last move is going into the VZW store and having hands on. Also be ready to walk away from any deal, phone or contract you can't live with. And don't over buy what you don't need. Thanks for trying so many chargers, ndyoder. You were certainly on the right path to try to get the phone working again! Since you mentioned insurance, has the phone had some physical damage or liquid exposure? Have you had the opportunity to leave it on the home charger for a few hours before trying to power it on again? Try to press and hold the power and home key both at the same sime for about 30 seconds.

Mine is doing it too and it is making me mad. Now it is stuck downloading something. It says "Downloading. Do not turn off target" and it is in factory mode.

Did not drop it, nothing spilled. Has an otter phone case.

Power off the phone , remove battery wait 3-5 minutes and replace battery and do a reboot.

Pulling the battery didn't work. I think theres something wrong with the firmware. If i hold the volume down button when it tries to start it says the operating system has a fatal error. I don't understand how something went wrong in the span of a minute of good use, to death.

I have no idea what a factory reset is but my boyfriend called me while I was at CVS (5 minutes away from the house) and it worked. I tried to charge my phone with my verizon car charger since it was under 10% life. It had issues so I unplugged it. I get home to charge it and as soon as I plugged it in to my original samsung charger it started being a pain.

I do not know what type of issues your phone is giving you when trying to charge, or after the FD., But you do have OS or power input circuit board issues. If phone is not charging on car or home charger and you have warranty or insurance I would return the phone for a replacement.
