This is an update to my original post factory reset before upgrade to 5.0 Lollipop, which has since been locked. so I can't post to it now.
We actually have two Samsung S4 phones in the family. I ended up doing a FDR on one of them (the one that had the first part of the update installed accidentally) and on the other one we just did a regular upgrade w/out the FDR. So far we've not had any real issues after the upgrade on either phone, Except that one day this past week the numbers/letters on the lock screen started showing up as block rectangles instead of the actual numbers/letters on the phone that had the FDR prior to the upgrade. I restarted the phone and so far this behaviour has not occurred again. Interestingly, the same thing happened earlier today on the other phone (the one that did not have the FDR prior to the upgrade). I haven't looked through the forums yet to see if anyone else has had the same thing happen on their phones. If it happens again, I'll investigate further.
