No voicemail indication

My Samsung Brightside no longer shows when I have a voice mail- no icon alert and the Voicemail counter shows no voice mail. 

Also, if I try to update the software it says the server is unavailable, try again later.  It has said this for 2 months.  Help!

You've come to the right place for help, ssfava. I know how important it is to get all your notifications and updates. When you dial *86 to check your messages, do you have a new voice mail there? Within the Administrative Menu when dialing *86, is Notifications/Message Waiting Indicator turned on? The last time the Brightside received an update was March of 2103, so most likely there is no update to receive. Are you able to access other data services like picture messages and the internet?
