Since Lollipop was forced on Galaxy phones, is Verizon going to pay for new wireless routers so we can access wifi?

Everyone I know with either a Galaxy S4 or Galaxy S5 has been having serious problems with their phone since the Lollilpop upgrade. Wifi connectivity, battery life, text messages showing as being sent, but not being received . . . My boyfriend and I both have Galaxy S4s that we loved before Lollipop was pushed on us. We tried not to upgrade, but had no choice.

Now, neither of us have been able to get on wifi in either of our homes. The phones are just constantly trying to connect. Our PCs, Macs, and other people's iphones have no problem getting on our wifi networks so the problem is not with the network. We have tried every fix listed in all the blogs. The only fix that seems to work is purchasing a new wireless router.

Here is my question: Since Lollipop was forced on our phones making our phones inopperable at home, are the software developers willing to cover the cost of all of us having to purchase new wireless routers?

Did you do a factory reset after the update?

Yes, but it didn't help . . . I also tried taking out my SIM card; forgetting wireless network and reconnecting; changing advanced options wireless settings to static . . . nothing works. The only solution I have found purportedly works is purchasing a new wireless router, but I hate to go to the time/$$$.

The thing that is super irritating is that I expected there would be too many problems with lollipop so I wanted to hold off on the update for 6 months or so. When I got the message to update, I hit my back arrow key and tried navigating away, but Verizon forced the update through to my phone. Not like the good old days, when we actually had a choice of updating operating systems.

Before you factory reset did you go into settings>backup and reset and turn off all back up data? If not I'd suggest trying that and then doing a factory reset. You can also go in and get a free new sim card from Verizon corporate. From there, if you experience other issues we can certainly try to address them.

What does your wireless set up look like at home? Provider / Brands of modem and router etc. Have you tried to connect to a different modem / router set up?

My wireless service provider is AT&T and the router purchased from them less than a year ago is called Westell. The wireless router is Netgear WGT624 and it is a few years old, but as I said, it works for every platform except for the Galaxy phones.

If I turn off Back up my data and turn off Automatic restore, won't I lose all my apps, text messages, contacts, etc?

powercycle modem and router. Unplug power cords for both devices as well as disconnecting the cable between modem and router as well as the cord from wall (jack) to modem for 60 seconds . Reconnect cord from wall to modem then reconnect power cord. Wait til all lights are back on modem, then reconnect cord between modem and router and then power up router. The order of reconnection is critical
