Will Verizon price match dell's $119 Droid?

I bought a Droid from a Verizon store last week for $300 with a $100 mail in rebate. Dell.com is now selling the Droid for $119.99 without the rebate. Can I get Verizon to price match while within the thirty day window of when I purchased my phone? If I return my phone now, can I get all of my money back and then buy the Droid through Dell? Can I still return the phone if I have submitted the rebate?

No, they will not price match. Dell is an authorized reseller that sets their own prices. VZW doesn't price match for Indirect Agents or Authorized Resellers.

You could return your phone even if you sent in the rebate. You just get refunded less the $100 rebate.

Thanks for the information. I had emailed Verizon, but they haven't gotten back to me yet. My wife and I each got Droids so the dell price would be a $172 saving to us once you factor in tax on the rebate portion. I have read some people have had some luck getting Best Buy to price match so I might just stop by there to see if I can reduce the hassle by getting a phone in person.

I am an existing virizon customer. I got my droid two weeks ago Nov 7th for $200 - $50 (renew contract) = $150. Now that I saw Dell is offering Droid for $120. I immediately thought of returning my phone and getting it from Dell for 120-50 (returning customer credit) = $70. BUT, I WAS WRONGGGGGG!! Not just for $50 but other stuff too.....keep reading

1. You can't get $50 credit because it is only from Verizon. Dell rep couldn't give it to me. so, now the phone will cost me $120.

2. So, no only $30 bux difference (150-120) is still not bad. BUTTTTT... i was wrong again.

3. The plan that DELL was offering was minimum $59.99 (900 mins + unlimited text) + 29.99 data plan. Upon asking why, they told me that they don't have 39.99 (450 mins) plan. Their answer was only verizon sells that plan to new and old customer. Dell is only allow to sell that plan to *NEW* customers. For exsiting suckers Dell is only allow to sell minimum 59.99 plan.

4. So, this (59.99 vs 39.99) pretty much wipes off my $30 difference. But, on top of it if you still decided to get it from DELL ... you can't change your plan for 6 months. So, pretty much like a sucker you end up paying $20 (60-40) every month for 6 months. This is for ALL returning VZ customers period.

so, in brief ... you won't get your $50 credit towards a new phone, you are stuck with a higher plan ($60 voice&messages + 30 data) for 6 months. SO, at the end of the day this deal is not worth it for returning customers like me. It will end up costing me moreeeee.

Thanks for sharing!! This is another great example of why it may not always be a good idea to buy a phone from an authorized retailer just because they have a better price on the phone!

Upfront price on the phone isn't everything, people. The money you save upfront you may have to pay back in stress and hassle.

I just went through the 2 year renewal process around the time the Droid came out. I was already entitled to the $100 discount. Then they offered the $100 rebate. Just recently, I received yet another Promo in the mail from Verizon. Got on the phone and discussed it with them.

When all is said and done, the phone has now cost me through Verizon $49.99. Let's see Dell beat that!
