Limited service

I just recently moved to the country, and we have limited service. I get service in certain areas, then nothing in other areas. I don't want to keep paying verizon for services I can't use, but it's helpful to be able to use GPS when it does work or access the internet. I currently have the LG G2. Is there a phone that works better in a limited area? Anything else I can do?

These are all great details in regards to your area, Northland6643. Mountainous areas can definitely have an effect on service quality, as well as local terrai/environmental factors. With your phones, let's try a few things first. With your G2, please go to Settings>More>Mobile Networks>Data Roaming Access>Set to Allow Access for all Trips

Under System Select>Try testing signal off of Global or LTE/CDMA to see if one provides a more consistent connection.

With the iPhone, please access Settings>Cellular>Roaming>make sure Data and Voice are both Set to ON (or test with them OFF to see if there is improvement. Please keep us posted

No phone will really impact how well you receive a signal. That's up to the towers and your distance between and whatever else is in between. The G2 is, in my opinion, one of the stronger signal receiving devices. You might opt for a network extender if all you get is 3G and weak at that. Unfortunately, there's not much that can be done outside of a booster or extender, and you need broadband cable/DSL (which DSL I'm sure you have no access to) to use the Verizon network extender, which runs $250. You might call Verizon to look into options. There might not be much that can be done since you started service BEFORE relocating, but worth a shot.

We live in a mountainous area. I don't expect four bars all the time, but I do expect to be able to make an outgoing emergency call. We travel through the area daily and we are constantly in and out of service. My battery drains quickly because of this. We were near the river the other day and I go absolutely zero service. Makes me nervous to not have a phone out there. And, it isn't just me. My husband has an iphone and I have many friends here who use verizon. Service is very spotty.

We have a home phone, so service at my home isn't necessary.
