HTC Incredible Issue? Or?

I've had a handful of times that I've called a company that are obviously on headsets, and they have a really hard time hearing me. Ironically, I hear them fine. It's overly frustrating, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

I originally thought it was the person's headset or line, but it's happened with more than one company.

I also hate the battery life on this phone :robotmad: . Such a powerful, full featured phone with a lack for battery juice sustainability.

Your in call volume may be low...Try turning up the volume while you are on a call by pressing the side buttons up. I hope this works for you!

his problem is NOT that he can't here the other person....it's that they can't here him. i've noticed a lot of posts from verizon reps on this forum that don't even address the issue.....or just suggest a hard reset as the solution (which is a HASSLE).

anyway, i've seen a number of complaints on this and other forums. i assume u have the incredible (your profile lists htc ozone?). there are threads on this forum that give instructions to change your type of signal, if you have time to search for them. they were last week. it seems that many people don't feel like they are getting nearly the signal on the incredible that they got on their old phone. depending on your location, you may be able to change the type of signal to a type that uses new technology (but only if it's supported in your area....if not, i beleive you'll end up getting no signal, but you can switch it back. you dial # and 3 numbers on your phone and it takes you to the very advanced/technical settings)

how long have you had the phone, because my battery life seems to have improved (had it 2 weeks now) as i drain and charged now every day for a couple weeks. i am now getting a full day before it goes yellow on the status. i'm hoping that it just took a week to "train" the baterry to fully charge. i also found a set on ebay that comes with 2 new batteries and a wall charger for them for $12. i plan on just charging the phone and the 2 batteries on sunday nights, and then switching them out. HOPEFULLY, i can get to thursday or friday before i have to charge them all again. i'll jus keep the 2 spares in the car.

This may work for you guys, It did work for me. If it does not then go back and switch them back to EVRC

the above is from an htc forum thread i stumbled onto. PLEASE NOTE that many said it worked great and many said it did nothing or made it worse (depends on the technology in your are). so be sure to switch it back if it doesn't help.

I made some mods according to what I read in the above. I made notes and stuck them in my phone incase I want to change them or I need to change them back eventually. Supposedly what I did should increase battery life and signal strength. Based on my experience with the MOTO DROID I also turned of EVRC. B is good but there are areas where it will drop calls because the closest tower doesn't have support for B. Also the PRL's are based on EVRC not EVRC-B so you might not get the best performance with that. A PRL that gives priority to EVRC-B towers would be nice to have. I suppose in my case a PRL that gives preference to 13K would be nice but I am going to play with it a little and keep track of what I do so I can reverse it if I have to. From what I could tell I had to use both numbers ##778 and ##7764186 to make the mods I made. I wonder if there are other numbers like those. I found where you can make manual PRL updates but I haven't been able to find PRL's. Oh well.

whoooooaaaaaa! that link is way over my head...lol. can you possibly update in acouple days and let me know if the changes you made helped the battery or signal. mine seems to be ok....but if it can be better i'd love to try. but honestly, i don't understand this stuff...lol. maybe if it works you can tell me what you did because that report looked awfully "techy"

Since I sometimes go overboard the summary of the below is I know deactivating EVRC improves sound quality and seems to improve my signal range. I could be wrong about the link meaning it may be more discussing the advantages of a different system but considering the configuration that showed the most improvement on that system I set my phone to match and will let you know if it helps.

It may be that I misunderstood the whole thing and the power benifits are to the towers and transmitters but the test showed better voice and data. Now I pulled out the tweeks based on their showing those two things helped but this may be related to a different IS standard. I don't know what the IS standard is except it decides which PRL you get. The Incredible uses IS 683-C. Ok but I will let you know what I find out. I will be using my phone as usual and since I did this mid morning if I make it until tonight without having to charge then it will be a huge success. If I don't then par for the course. If I have to plug in before or by the time I leave work then it is a drain to it. It seemed that on the DROID selecting 13K instead of EVRC drained the battery slightly faster but it was worth it. On the incredible the only advantage I saw is EVRC doesn't seem to work on a few small stretches of road here where 13K did. I don't know if it had anything to do with it but I assume it did because on both phones using EVRC I lose signal when I hit 2 predictable points on my way to my Wife's apartment but with 13K on the DROID and with EVRC on the Incredible inactive it doesn't .

Whew. Calls sound better on both with EVRC turned off and I haven't run into an area where it wasn't supported but I did with EVRC-B. There were a few places EVRC-B isn't supported in my area (mostly more rural areas).

If I am understanding correctly it sounds like you turned "ECRV Enabled" to disabled completely as opposed to simply changing Home Page, Home Orig and Roam Orig from EVRC to EVRC-B? Any subsequent changes to these needed when EVRC is disabled? Any effect on data, web access etc?

Sounds like the Incredible defaults to 13K when EVRC is disabled even though there's direct toggle for it in CDMA settings...
