How do I return a phone that was reported as lost/stolen?

On December 1, 2013, I ordered a used (like new) Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Amazon Marketplace seller Kai Lili. Since then I have been using it for email, NetFlix, etc. on WiFi. Recently I thought about setting it up with TracFone's BYOP program and discovered that it has been previously reported to Verizon as lost/stolen. If someone has a rightful claim on it, then I would be happy to return it.

if you take it to a Verizon store they can contact the device owner. there may have been an insurance claim filed so it may end up needing to go to the insurance company
