Since it is known that Android 5.1.1 resolves the poor battery life and the bluetooth connectivity issues, when will Verizon release it for the Galaxy S5?
I'd like to know this as well. I read earlier today that 5.1.1 is being released for an older motorola phone. Almost every other carrier has released 5.1.1 for their variant of the S5. Once again Verizon is late to the party and is angering their long time customers.
Radar320,
Getting the latest update is nice treat for your phone. Updates are pushed out after they have been thoroughly tested from Verizon. We would hate for you to get an update and additional issues occur. You can sign up for notification for when the latest updates are available via the http://vz.to/1M7Y7bW website.

"almost every other carrier", t-mobile is the only one i'm aware of doing 5.1.1 for the s5 so far.
Well your testing failed then with every form of 5.0 that you have pushed out. Just look at all the issues posted in this forum and across other forums as well.
It's a nice treat?
This update fixes a VERY serious security leak, namely StageFright. That isn't a treat it's a necessity.
VZW really needs to stop responding with marketing and pacifying statements.
Say it has to test is enough. But they need a better testing strategy including removal of so much bloatware.
TREAT? All I want is my phone to work they way it was designed!
Really Disappointed in Verizon not updating phone yet.
Where is my S 5 update. I still think someone at Verizon knows something and they won't tell us.
Let us know how you do with the update
I think I've learned my lesson from my whole experience with the S5 and Verizon. Don't buy Verizon phones and if you want the latest and greatest from Android - your best option is a Verizon compatible Nexus device straight from Google.
Verizon just doesn't appear to have the resources to keep their phones updated.
Don't ! I will be going back to ATT as soon as my contract expires. I have 3 lines!
Add me to the list that would like this update ASAP, and can't understand the time lag with Verizon rolling them out. There are known security, battery and bluetooth issues that this update is supposed to address, which should make rolling it out a priority. I'm not going to dump on Verizon like others have, just expressing my opinion that it's in everyone's best interest to get moving on this. Given Verizon's size and market share one would hope they'd be on the leading edge of these upgrades that affect security and efficient operation of their handsets. That's how you build brand loyalty and repeat customers.
Kjbales We really do want you to have the latest updates. I understand they are intended to improve certain functions. Thanks. I'm really hoping for some update to the S5 soon, as I'm having
many of the issues I read about in the forum (battery overheating,
bluetooth disconnecting/reconnecting in my car, etc, etc), and have tried
all the FAQ suggestions. Hoping 5.1.x or Marshmallow will address them.

I just received an OTA Download for:
LRX21T.G900VVRU2BOK3
Not much info on what it entails: Samsung Galaxy S 5 Software Update | Verizon Wireless
Took about 19 minutes to install. SD Card has not been initialized yet...Apps installed on SD card are showing as generic SD icons...hope that fixes itself...
Phone is really hot at the moment. Going to reboot and clear the cache data for safe measure.
So much for quality assurance testing, eh VW?
Android Version - 5.0 - [removal required by Verizon Wireless Terms of Service]
Android Security Patch level: 2015-11-01
Do NOT install this patch folks...all my apps that were installed on my SD card are now inaccessible, the phone is very warm, and sluggish.
I wiped the cache partition and Cached Data - no change.
The problem is that they push the patch on the phones eventually. Need to check in other carriers to see if same thing happens
Sent from Outlook Mobile
I installed with no issues. phone is fast and all my Icons and SD card are good. Unfortunatly this is just a security patch. Operating system is still 5.0.
Where is our 5.1.1 Verizon?
Where is our voice over Wifi?
Get with the program!!!!
Note 4 just got 5.1.1...
Let's hope this means the S5 will get it soon as well, but I'm not holding my breath.
Not likely.
Months later...here we sit - on 5.0
No hope in sight for Marshmallow or an end to the endless battery drains while other S5's live on to rule another day.
I will never buy a Verizon branded phone again.
I want you to love your phone and I'm here to help. When did you begin to experience battery drain issues? How much battery life are you getting? Updates are released in stages and will be pushed to the device once it becomes available, your patience is greatly appreciated.

Ever since upgrading to 5.0. I've done a factory reset, which definitely helped, but it is still no where near as good as it used to be when on 4.4.
I even bought a new OEM battery and had an ever so slight improvement, but at the end of an 8hr work day, my phone is down to 30-40% with moderate use (text, a few phone calls, and checking email).
To the OP and all others thinking 5.1.1 will be out anytime soon, Save your breath.. it isn't gonna happen. period. With MM coming out this month or next (Or more likely August), they are not going to release an update just to roll out a new android OS version a month or two later..
Like I said earlier, This is the way Verizon works.. It is easier for them to just roll up all the updates into the next major OS release and yes that means a very long wait but again that's the way Verizon works so we are all use to being last for everything right?
Please stop asking for things we all know will never happen. Thank-You..
We want you to get the most out of your battery Blur125. Thank you for all you have done so far. Do you have a lot of apps running in the background on your device? What does your phone show is using most of the battery? http://vz.to/1Ra2CbYRashadM_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupportIf my response answered your question please click the 'Correct Answer' button under my response. April 21st and still - nothing. Other carriers are already pushing Marshmallow to the S5.
Will never buy a verizon branded phone again. What a rip off. After payments, will have paid $600 for a phone that after 2 years is worth MAYBE $150, mostly due to the fact that its loaded with Verizon bloatware and still stuck on 5.0
Buying a Nexus once I hit October, Verizon phones suck. Love how their iPhones are pure Apple iOS, but their Android phones all have to have their carrier branding.
September will be the end of my servitude.

I am new to the forum. Just wondering if the problems associated with the S5 Lollipop Update from KitKat were made worst with recent updates provided by Verizon (2/29/2016). I currently have a Verizon S5 on another carrier. The phone works great! Battery life is great. (1.5 days with moderate use) Lollipop 5.0 was preinstalled on my phone. Should I be concerned if I try my S5 with Verizon (Pre-paid)?
Hi TonyD123,
We are so excited to hear of your interest in the Verizon Wireless Prepaid services. The S5 on VZW Prepaid will experience the best device experience. Click here for more details on our Prepaid service http://www.verizonwireless.com/prepaid/.

May 22nd - another month of no Marshmallow love...how long does it take VZW? Lollipop was pushed out within 30 days of its release. Marshmallow was released in October 2015...come on fellas...
I find it interesting that S5 users in other countries are receiving Marshmallow in the past few days. Just in the last week it was released in
United Arab EmiratesEgyptIraqSaudi Arabia
Kazakhstan
Uzbekistan
Turkey
Panama
ChileUruguayBoliviaArgentinaTrinidad & Tobago
Really VZW. That people in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have better service with their phones than the USA? I guess Borat does not have it so bad after all.
They have nothing to gain by updating the phone. They want you to buy another phone.
I've read all these responses from vzw and I am ashamed to say I have vzw service. No one seems to not KNOW about marshmallow. I find it hard to believe. I sometimes don't have 4g signal, but don't worry vzw will still sit back and do nothing. Typical corporate behavior. 10 year customer treated like a mushroom, ..kept in the dark and fed alot of [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service]

Since my contact just ended with Verizon worn my S5s, I think it is time for me to look for another carrier. The fact that Verizon continues to ignore is customer's complaints about updating to Marshmallow but continues to offer the S5 with no support shows absolutely nob regard for their customers. Time to cut my ties after many years of service.
HBlain,
We understand the importance of wanting to have the benefits of getting a software update on your phone. Since the updates are released a different times for different devices it is possible to see some phones go a while without receiving an update. At this time we have no ETA on when the update will be released for the S5 but you can check here http://vz.to/1EivXJl for updatesW

Just found this on another site: TMobile is rolling Marshmallow out now and it lists that AT&T and Verizon are the ONLY two remaining holdouts. If there is any consolation, AT&T was the VERY last one to roll out the last update, but if that was 5.1 then Verizon didn't roll out 5.1 to the S5 at all. And here we sit ...
This is a generated response that means absolutely nothing to your loyal paying customers.
What a mess. I am going to get an iPhone with another carrier. Verizon and
Google and Samsung can all..... well you know.
Got me an iPhone and a new carrier
Sent from my iPhone
Get an iPhone or Nexus Verizon has nothing to do with updates.
They still go through the approval process just a little differently and out of the public eye.
ADC for example is where carriers and beta users work with Apple. You actually have to buy into it(except carriers as per their agreement). Apple waits until all their devices are ready to update before pushing the update.
Google just still does go through carrier testing just more under the radar now due to block C.
Android 6.0.1 will be released for the S5 on 5/31/16 I heard that from a few Verizon reps. Just wanted to let you know.
I am going to watch as everyone complains how the update makes things worse.
Someone said they are releasing 6.0 In next couple days. Good luck.
