Why is my Droid Turbo resending random texts from earlier in the day, to the person I sent them to?

My phone has been sending random texts from earlier in the day, to the same person I sent them to. Usually this happens at midnight, but does happen during the day as well. This has been going on for about a week. I'm using the basic Messaging app that is built into the main screen. Also, sometimes the app says that it has failed, and it shows that the message is sending, but the person responds to my message anyway.

threenil Random text messages can cause problems. Let's figure out what's causing this. What changes have been made to the device, software or application within the past few weeks? How many different contacts are receiving the random text?

This exact thing is happening to me. My girlfriend has been getting up to 10 previously sent messages at a time. Messaging closes and says the message is sending even when people have already got the message. and then sometimes I don't get replies. It is getting to be annoying. I have run 3 different virus scans and deleted every recently downloaded app. Nothing is working.
