When transferring contacts from old phone to replacement it copied each contact 84 times. WHY?

I recently had to replace my Samsung S5, the guy at the store had some trouble moving all of my contacts, texts, etc to my new phone. When all was said and done, it copied each contact over 84 times each. I know have 20000 contacts. Why did this happen? Is it a problem with how my cloud is setup ? Or something he did when connecting it to his little machine? Is there a way to quickly delete contacts? It's been weeks and I am only to the B's of deleting duplicate contacts. I HATE THIS PHONE! IT ALWAYS HAS A PROBLEM. Once again, the not so knowledgeable gentleman at the store, said he didn't know why it happened or what to do about it, other than remove them manually... and wished me luck. GRRRRRR

We definitely want you to love your phone again, floridianfamily. Making sure your phone is set up correctly is important. We can definitely make sure we get the contacts updated. Here are the steps to remove multiple contacts at one time, Contacts > Menu (three dots in top right) > Delete > Check the ones you would like to delete > Done.

Yes I am aware of how to use my phone . Deleting my contacts the way in which you described will take days , and that's if I sat and did it from a to z uninterrupted . I was inquiring to see a) why this happened and b) if there was a faster , easier, more efficient way of removing the duplicates . Thanks for taking the time to actually read my concern before spouting out a generic response .
