I lost most of my contacts and instead have just a few, each duplicated dozens of times

All of a sudden, my contacts are messed up. For example, I have 30 Check Bal entries. It seems this happens for just a few #s in my contacts, not all. When I tried to delete the duplicates, I ended up with about 100 entries that say delete.

I looked in my backup and it is similarly messed up. I have lost almost all my contacts.

We want your contacts to show correctly on your phone. Let's work together on this. Are your contacts also synced using your google account? If so, you should be able retrieve those as well. Go into your google settings to sync your phone.
