Why won't my battery hold a charge?

My battery will not hold a charge at all.  I have attempted to order a new but keeps saying it is out of stock. I sometimes even loses power during charging. It gives incorrect info about amount it is charged, and in general is unpredictable, inconsistent,

A phone that doesn't hold a charge definitely signals help and we are here to help find a solution for you.  When did this issue begin? Have you tried checking other charges to make sure that is not causing the problem?
